1211 movies watched since September 2005.
| February 2010 | ||
| Whiteout (2009) | Average thriller, some beautiful landscapes but I was missing the abandoned feeling I like from these isolated winter films. | |
| World's Greatest Dad (2009) | I was very surprised by this, I was expecting a slapstick style comedy but that's certainly not what it is. I liked the ending especially. I haven't seen that many films so far this year, but this is probably in the top three. | |
| Carriers (2009) | This was billed as an action/horror (at least it seemed that way to me) - that's not what it was at all, but still, it's my genre, so I enjoyed it. | |
| Up In The Air (2009) | This was way overrated, I found it pretty boring. Not quite sure what it was trying to say, or if anything really happened. | |
| Tron (1982) | Watched the 20th Anniversary edition, it's a great film, can't remember the last time I saw it, I must have been 10 or so. The movie isn't half as dated as I expected (if we ignore the arcade scenes and a good chuck of the dialogue). | |
| The Spy Next Door (2009) | This was okay for a kid's film. Not as many stunts as I'd like but I guess Jackie is getting old. | |
| Serious Moonlight (2009) | I found this very slow. Kirsten Bell was nice to look at but there wasn't much else going for the movie. | |
| Daybreakers (2009) | This was alright, was kinda expecting something more with regards to the style of a vampire controlled world but it was quite tame. Sorta like Minority Report with a couple of fangs thrown in. | |
| The Road (2009) | I hadn't heard of this until recently, it sounded like my type of film. I enjoyed it, though sometimes it was a little slow. I scene with the prisoners in the basement stood out, but then that was probably just my penchant for monsters. | |
| A Perfect Getaway (2009) | I quite liked most of this, but the reveal/ending/twist was badly done. Timothy Olyphant was very good as usual. For some reason I was convinced the lead female was the spitting image of Mila Jovovich and then I realised it actually was her. | |
| Decoys (2004) | Poor man's Species, without Natasha Henstridge, so it's pretty pointless. Overall it's an average film, could have been worse. | |
| Dread (2009) | This was alright, a little slow at times. | |
| Extract (2009) | This was pretty decent, not laugh-out-loud, but entertaining. Mila Kunis looked great and Jason Bateman is becoming a favourite of mine. | |
| January 2010 | ||
| 16 Blocks (2006) | Watched this on TV with my parents on my mum's birthday. I'd seen this before, it's a decent film. | |
| Case 39 (2009) | This was an okay horror/thriller. I liked how precocious she was in the scene with the psychologist. | |
| Horsemen (2009) | Watched this with my dad, I think it was the night Seven died. It was a pretty decent thriller. | |
| Sherlock Holmes (2009) | I was looking forward to this, unfortunately, I found the story pretty dry. There was a lack of suspense and mystery, though I might watch this again and see if my opinon changes. With regards to most other aspects, the style, the acting, the interpretation of the Watson-Holmes interplay etc I was quite impressed. I particularly liked Holmes' explanations of how he'd react in a fight and then the follow through. It's always how I'd imagined Holmes in combat. Looking forward to the sequel. I heard there is a petition to get Stephen Fry to play Mycroft, superb idea :-) | |
| The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) | Wasn't really bothered about watching this, I suspected the book couldn't be improved upon. I was pleasantly surprised - it was a faithful and well done interpretation. Didn't recognise Eric Bana as Nero. Claire was prettier than I imagined when I read the book. | |
| Public Enemies (2009) | I found this terribly slow, the acting was okay, but the pace just felt off. Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind. I turned it off toward the end and watched the remainder a day later. | |
| Stan Helsing (2009) | Why can nobody make a good parody these days? This wasn't good at all, but I've seen much worse recently. There were a couple of laughs, and it's my genre. | |
| Vice Versa (1988) | Another fun 80s movie from my past. Was interesting to see again. | |
| Batman and Robin (1997) | Decided to watch this out of the blue. It's probably my least favourite of the series. It's a bit of fun though. Always nice to see Bat Girl fight Poison Ivy. | |
| Moon (2009) | Watched this after Pandorum. I think I prefered this. They are different films of course. Some interesting ideas in the film. I liked the computer, it was pretty different from the norm. | |
| Pandorum (2009) | I enjoyed this film, it was fun with a decent amount of suspense. I'm showing my geek colours here though - I would probably have enjoyed it just as much, or maybe more, without the monsters. | |
| Whatever Works (2009) | Not a bad film, pretty much Woody Allen meets Curb Your Enthusiasm... Which was probably what they were going for. | |
| Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2009) | Previously, i.e. before seeing JVCD, I would assume this would've been crap. But I was keen to see what VD would do with this. I was pretty impressed. Overall it was an okay action film, nothing overly special, but leagues better than the previous installments of one my favourite action franchises. | |
| The Stone Tape (1972) | Very quaint British TV film. I liked seeing the old equipment. The idea of 'the stone tape' is pretty cool. The film wasn't too good though, and pretty dated. | |
| Buffalo '66 (1998) | I'm not sure I've seen Vincent Gallo before, he was a pretty impressive, intense actor. Everybody was pretty good in this actually, I liked the parents and Ricci looked cute. | |
| Battle Angel (1993) | aka Gunnm. Not a bad OVA, a little preoccupied with the romance and light on the tech but I enjoyed it. | |
| December 2009 | ||
| The Proposal (2009) | Meh this was alright, I was a little bored. "Not bad for it's genre". | |
| Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009) | I was bored with this. I remember enjoying the original, but this seemed overplayed and forced. | |
| Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead (2009) | This was alright. Nothing special. Could have been worse. | |
| Up (2009) | Watched this with my family after Christmas. I quite enjoyed it, it was an okay family film. The mini-film at the beginning, the almost wordless introduction, was superbly done and would have stood alone as an excellent, albeit depressing, short. | |
| The Dark Hours (2005) | Not a bad film, the plot was obvious from the beginning though. | |
| Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins (2009) | Barely paid much attention to this, it wasn't good, which I kind of expected. | |
| Wendigo (2001) | This wasn't a bad film, I would have reedited it completely though, the pace was all wrong. | |
| Freaky Friday (2003) | This was okay. | |
| Freaky Friday (1976) | Quite a strange, dated film. The last 20 minutes were pretty crazy. Jodie Foster was decent in it. | |
| Trading Places (1983) | I enjoyed this, it was a fun early 80s comedy. Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd were good together. The one scene with Jamie Lee Curtis getting into bed took me by surprise. | |
| The Last Winter (2006) | Was desperately looking for another horror film set in a snowy environment, similar to The Thing and didn't realise I'd already watched this. It is a good, atmospheric film - it has a pretty slow beginning though. | |
| Dead Space Downfall (2008) | This was not bad, basically a cartoon version of Aliens meet a zombie film. I might check out the game this is based on. | |
| All of Me (1985) | Part of my body-switching movies drive. This was an alright movie, I didn't like it so much though. The black blind character was pretty cool. | |
| Army of One (1993) | aka Joshua Tree. This was a terrible but enjoyable, cheesey film. | |
| Jennifer's Body (2009) | Watched this because Megan Fox was in it, even though I don't like her all that much. It was a okay film. Reminded me a little of Teeth mixed with a few other teen horrors. | |
| November 2009 | ||
| The Tournament (2009) | This was an okay action movie, nothing special, Robert Carlyle bugged me a little. Reminded me somewhat of Battle Royale. Kelly Hu was gorgeous. | |
| Runaway Train (1985) | Meh, this was alright. | |
| Gamer (2009) | Wanted to love this but it was only okay. | |
| Scrooged (1988) | Was in the mood for some 80s Bill Murray. It's an okay film. | |
| Kingpin (1996) | I really loved this comedy when I first saw it, I think in the cinema. It's still a good film, not as great as I remember it, but there are some really funny, and also quite subtle, scenes. | |
| The Machinist (2004) | Good film, Christian Bale was great as usual. | |
| Mama's Boy (2007) | This was alright. I fall in love with Anna Faris in different ways with each film I see her in. | |
| J.C.V.D. (2008) | I was very impressed with this. It was a good, well done movie. Jean Claude Van Damme actually pulled off every scene well. Trouble is, I want to recommend it but can't think to whom. | |
| Dune (1984) | Mini-series. I liked Kyle McLachlan as Paul Atredes. In fact I liked most of the actors, more so than the 2000 remake. | |
| Jack Frost (1996) | B movie gold. Finally got around to seeing this. I remember the cover from long ago when I was a kid in Blockbusters with my dad - I was never allowed to rent it. This is the sort of movie I look for. There was some great cheesey one-liners with some interesting death scenes - gotta be seen for nothing else than the Shannon Elizabeth "Where's the carrot?" death scene. | |
| Jesus Camp (2006) | My god. It's like a horror film for free thinkers. | |
| Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (1988) | Fascinating film. I totally missed this girl, this is the first I've heard of her - she's been alluded to, but I didn't know anything really - just looked up her other film and Movie Macabre. It was a fun cult film. Oh, and, well, she definitely has a figure. | |
| The Patriot (2000) | This was okay. | |
| U.S. Marshals (1998) | I like this, very good fugitive film. Both the leads are great. | |
| Big (1988) | Fun cheesey 80s flick. Tom Hanks was great in this. I always remember wanting this to happen to me when I was young (and hisapartment/job) -the machine also freaked me out a bit. Still liked it, the piano scene is great too. | |
| Clear and Present Danger (1994) | Decent 90s thriller. | |
| I Sell the Dead (2008) | I liked this movie. It had a lot of style. I thought Dominic Monaghan would annoy me but he was pretty good, Ron Perlman too. | |
| Duplicity (2009) | I enjoyed this movie. The end scene was quite unusual for a movie of this type. | |
| Assassination of a High School President (2008) | Mischa Barton looked amazing in this. I quite enjoyed the film too. | |
| 17 Again (2009) | ||
| Natural City (2003) | A very cinematic beautiful film. I wanted to like this more but the story just isn't there. I couldn't buy a single character either. | |
| The Last House on the Left (2009) | Better than average slasher. Liked all the characters. Meant to see the original before this remake, but was having trouble finding it quickly. | |
| Cool World (1992) | Interesting film, I can't really say I enjoyed it though, didn't quite make enough sense. | |
| Stag Night (2009) | Some interesting elements to this, but not that great a film. | |
| Before The Devil Knows You're Dead (2007) | I enjoyed this depressing thriller. | |
| Rise of the Gargoyles (2009) | Low budget monster film that had little going for it. It could have been worse. | |
| Michael Clayton (2007) | Decent film. | |
| Land of the Lost (2009) | Average Will Ferrell movie. Some fun/interesting moments. Anna Friel was cute. | |
| The Terminators (2009) | I really really should give up on Asylum films. I'm always so tempted that one day it might be decent. If nothing else it shows me a lot of things I shouldn't do when I make a movie. The effects are getting better and better though (don't get me wrong, they were terrible, but I can just imagine it's getting easier and easier to have some 16 year old generate all the stuff they want/need on his home PC). | |
| The Beastmaster (1982) | Great cheesey 80s adventure/fantasy film. | |
| The Host (2006) | aka Gwoemul. I avoided this because it looked like an average monster film. However the ratings slowly climbed on IMDB so I gave it a shot. Didn't like it much. Sometimes Korean cinema is very strange - why was he touching himself when his daughter died? I'll go back and watch this again though - I wasn't paying much attention. | |
| Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things (1973) | I was disappointed with this, didn't know much about it - just remembered seeing the VHS cover when I was a kid in the video store. The film is something like 74 minutes long - not one scare, monster or zombie until at least the 64 minute mark. Just weird weird acting from the 'mystic girl' and the lead guy. Terrible film. | |
| Black Cadillac (2003) | Decent little thriller. | |
| Feast 3 (2009) | Still haven't seen the second film in the series - and don't really want to. I only watched this because the first five minutes were so surprising. No spoiler, but half the cast died and almost all the women were naked. Had to see the rest :-p | |
| Young Frankenstein (1974) | This is totally my style of movie but for some reason it's taken me at least three or four sittings to get through it. I love parodies, love the subject matter, but just don't get the movie overall. There are some superb lines "Walk this way" etc, but overall it just doesn't click. Shame. I'm probably spoiled with seeing too many similar films before getting around to this one (which, granted, I should have seen much earlier). | |
| Dead girl (2008) | This is probably up there in my most interesting film of the year spot. Somebody recommended it to me, but I picked up the wrong one and watched Deadgirl (2008) instead. This is the one they must have meant. It's a pretty mental film. Crazy premise, disturbed characters, twisted ending (and fascinating 15 seconds at the beginning), makes me wish for a sequel or prequel. | |
| The Promotion | ||
| Let The Right One In (2008) | I liked this film a lot. It was very different from the usual fare. Lina Leandersson was very good. The violent scene at the end was well done. I plan to read the novel. | |
| iMurders (2008) | Thoroughly mediocre. | |
| Reservation Road (2007) | I didn't really care about the characters and found the movie a bit slow. It was okay though. | |
| The Hills Run Red (2009) | This was a pretty mediocre film, which was a shame because I liked the plot (though now that I think of it, it's similar to a film I saw set in a cinema, the name of which escapes me). The 'coming off drugs' montage at the beginning is worth seeing. | |
| Tourist Trap (1979) | B movie gold. | |
| Next Day Air (2009) | I thought this was a stoner comedy for some reason. I was pleasantly surprised, It was an interesting, stylish action/comedy/thriller. | |
| October 2009 | ||
| Funny People (2009) | I liked this. Partly another generic Sandler movie, but there were some moving and genuine moments. | |
| Transsiberian (2008) | I liked this movie. The acting was very good. There is also something about movies set on trains that I like. | |
| 9 (2009) | This was nice to look at but the plot was terrible, had potential but I have no idea what actually happened, far too many unanswered questions. | |
| The Poker Club (2008) | This was okay. Quite liked the characters. | |
| Aliens in the Attic (2009) | Pretty good for a kids film. Had a bit of a Home Alone feel to it. Also introduced me to Ashley Tisdale. | |
| G-Force (2009) | Only watched this because Zach Galifianakis was in it. It was a pretty mediocre movie. Keli Garner was cute. | |
| Wyvern (2009) | Meh, was average. | |
| Mystery Train (1989) | After I watched the first few minutes I really liked the two Japanese characters and wanted to see a lot more of them. The other two segments were so so. | |
| Observe and Report (2009) | Meh, was okay. | |
| Santa Who? (2000) | Meh. Had to watch it because Leslie Nelson was in it. Could have been worse. | |
| Drag Me To Hell (2009) | I enjoyed this. Refreshingly different from what we've had in the past decade or so. | |
| Infestation (2009) | This was pretty decent. | |
| Year One (2009) | Meh, nothing special. | |
| Mystic River (2003) | Decent film, well acted. | |
| Dead Man's Shoes (2004) | I thought this was superb. Excellently acted, the scene following the drugs in the kettle was awesomely done. Will need to look for more by the writer and especially the director. | |
| Edmond (2005) | I liked this, quite an interesting movie. William H. Macy always impresses. | |
| Frailty (2002) | Decent film. Bill Paxton was very good in it. | |
| The Square (2008) | This was okay. | |
| The Talented Mr Ripley (1999) | Been meaning to watch this for years. It was pretty much what I expected. I enjoyed it though. | |
| September 2009 | ||
| Dead Snow (2009) | Enjoyable zombie movie, some great scenes and decent acting. | |
| The Reader (2008) | I enjoyed this. | |
| 3:10 to Yuma (2008) | Excellent western film. Bale and Crowe were great. | |
| Dorian Blues (2004) | Wasn't quite sure what to expect, this was a good film though. | |
| Elegy (2008) | Was a good movie, albeit a little depressing. I liked Ben Kingsley in this. | |
| The Devil's Backbone (2001) | The cinematography was superb in this, it was a beautiful film. It's a pity it was such a clichéd story - I've seen it all many times before. | |
| Derailed (2005) | Not a bad film. | |
| Bob Funk (2009) | Okay for it's genre. | |
| Marooned (1969) | Quite slow, and probably done better by the Apollo 13 movie, was okay though. | |
| Space Truckers (1996) | Quite enjoyed this, wasn't expecting much at all from it. Dennis Hopper was pretty good. | |
| Return to Oz (1985) | Didn't think I'd seen this but recognised the mechanical man straight away - I must have watched it years ago. It's an interesting film, quite dark. | |
| 976-EVIL (1988) | Very weird film. Worth watching. | |
| Alien Hunter (2003) | Kinda guessed what the message was, but I enjoyed the film. I like James Spader, and the Antarctic landscape is cool. | |
| I Love You, Man (2009) | This wasn't bad. | |
| August 2009 | ||
| Blood: The Last Vampire (2009) | This was okay. Cute girl. | |
| Akeelah and the Bee (2006) | Didn't really fancy this much, but I enjoyed it. Lawrence Fishburne was good. I'm sure my spelling is deteriorating. | |
| Six Days and Seven Nights (1998) | This was alright, wasn't as bad as I'd been lead to believe. | |
| 100 Feet (2009) | This was an okay film. I especially liked the ghost though, I thought that was well done. Especially the scene he attacked her new lover. | |
| Adventureland (2009) | ||
| April Fool's Day (1986) | Fun, camp little 80s horror movie. I'd been meaning to see if for years. I'll watch the remake. | |
| Babylon AD (2006) | ||
| Bedtime Stories (2008) | ||
| Big Fish (2003) | This was well done. I found it a little slow though. | |
| Hush (2009) | ||
| In Search of a Midnight Kiss (2009) | ||
| Intacto (2009) | ||
| Lost in Space (1998) | ||
| Pontypool (2009) | ||
| The Escapist (2009) | I enjoyed this. Felt like a homage to Shawshank Redemption. Became a fan of Brian Cox ever since Red. | |
| July 2009 | ||
| The Mechanic (1972) | This wasn't bad. | |
| American Gangster (2007) | Thought I'd already seen this. It was good. | |
| Civic Duty (2006) | Not bad. Kinda interesting premise. | |
| Deep Cover (2004) | Jeff Goldblum as a villain, excellent, enjoyed this. | |
| Disaster! (2005) | Was expecting a bit more from this Team American style comedy. It was alright, kept my attention despite it being mostly fart jokes. | |
| Frankenstein Unbound (2004) | Cool. I've been looking for this for a ges. I remember seeing it as a kid and not remembering whether or not I had imagined the plot. Futuristic car, with AI driving through a Frankenstein era town, classic :-) Oh, and with John Hurt. | |
| Freejack (1992) | Excellent cheesy sci-fi, interestingly set in November 2009. Mick Jagger has to be seen. | |
| Friday the 13th (2009) | Bah, didn't enjoy this much. Didn't have the relentless-pursuer vibe that is so important to this genre. Also, he was basically magical - not Jason. | |
| Night Train (2009) | I was pleasantly surprised by this. Decent film. | |
| Parents (1989) | This is nicely surreal. Randy Quaid was great as the creepy father. | |
| Sunshine Cleaning (2008) | Decent film. | |
| Table For Three (2009) | Meh, this was okay. Superman's flatmates. | |
| The Cooler (2003) | Good, romantic film. William H. Macy was great as always. | |
| The Orphanage (2007) | This was okay, not as good as I'd expected though. | |
| The Pagemaster (1994) | Was a little disappointed this majority of this was animated. It was alright, nothing special. | |
| The War of the Roses (1989) | Watched this in my attempt to track down a horror film I remember from my childhood. It wasn't the right movie. It was okay though. I liked the end. | |
| Toy Soldiers (1991) | Fun kids film. Think I preferred the similar, but extra camp, Masterminds. Oh, and Wil Wheaton gets shot bad :-p | |
| Undead or Alive (2007) | Kev recommended this to me, I was quite surprised, seen a lot of this type of movie, a 'Zombedy' as they call it, this was pretty stylish. | |
| Walking Tall (2004) | Meh, average action flick. Weird, overly long fight sequence at the end. | |
| Watchmen (2009) | I watched this just after reading the graphic novel. I was impressed. It was amazingly true to the story (except for the ending), which, unusually, I thought was done better than the story. Easily best film of the year so far. The soundtrack was good as well, the introduction montage captured the feel of the novel superbly. | |
| Waxwork (1988) | Camptastic cheese. Marquis de Sade scene was worth watching though. | |
| June 2009 | ||
| Death Train (1993) | Cheesy action film, was alright. | |
| 18 Year Old Virgin (2009) | Of all the trash I watch, this was reasonably unique. Sorta American Pie but from a female perspective. Not a good film by any means, but some interesting scenes. The bathroom scene was just over-the-top, almost made me uncomfortable having the actress do that, but then at least I felt something. | |
| Airbone (1993) | Meh, rollerblading movie. That was some look Seth Green was sporting. | |
| Attack of the 50ft Woman (1958) | Aww.. This has been on my to-see list for years - maybe nearly two decades - it was quite a bit of a let down. The titular character only has 4 minutes of screen time, plus the effects, while possibly impressive at the time, make the character look like a transparent ghost and even I could have made a better puppet with pipe cleaners. Oh well, there is something sexy about a 50ft woman rampaging through town though. I'd like to buy the movie poster print. | |
| Bleeders (1997) | Meh, sorta interesting, the lead girl was cute. | |
| Blue Thunder (1983) | I'd seen this quite a while ago. It's an okay film. | |
| Body Snatchers (1993) | Easily the worst of the remakes. Kept my attention though, but I guess that was partly to do with a young Gabrielle Anwar. | |
| Cellular (2004) | Alright action movie/thriller. | |
| Diary of a Teenage Nudist (2004) | I expected this to be a comedy, or a least not a documentary. I guess I was approaching the whole thing from the wrong angle - she gets naked about 1hr 10mins in.. I jest.. It was enlightening, the point made about filming children on home videos was interesting - some kids grow up in nudist camps and the make home videos of barbeques etc, which is fine, but you can find some of these videos for sale in the backs of magazines - she wonders who buys them. | |
| Flight of the Navigator (1986) | Fond memories of this 80s movie. It's fun sci-fi, the ship was very memorable. Sarah Jessica Parker is pretty hot too (though not as hot as she was in Hocus Pocus). | |
| Funny Games U.S. (2007) | Might have delayed watching this (for a few years) if I'd know it was a shot-for-shot remake of the original. It's a okay film, if you've seen the original you've seen this. | |
| Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control (2008) | This wasn't that great, I enjoyed seeing more of the characters though. | |
| Infected (2008) | TV sci-fi alien takeover yarn. Nothing new really. Meh. | |
| Intolerable Cruelty (2003) | This was watchable, a little slow. | |
| Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) | Good film. Despite the 70s clothes and decor the film has quite a timeless quality, much like The Thing. Some of the effects were pretty impressive for the time. | |
| Mad Max (1979) | Some background distraction while I was playing WoW. Meh. | |
| Midnight Movie (2008) | Kinda liked the idea, but there were just too many horror-cliche inconsistences. Not a good film. | |
| Moonraker (1979) | Some background distraction while I was playing WoW. Meh. | |
| Perfect Creature (2006) | This is an okay vampire film. I liked the style and the brotherhood idea. I think I'd seen this a year or two ago already. | |
| Plaguers (2008) | This wasn't as terrible as I expected, plus a reasonable amount of eye candy. Pretty much a low budget, badly acted Alien meets The Thing, so up my street. | |
| Rat Race (2004) | Not many agree, but I think this is a fun little road trip movie with a great cast. I loved the group of gamblers led by John Cleese. The intro credits really stood out for me; fun music, in a Monty Python esque style. | |
| Spanglish (2004) | This was okay. | |
| Star Trek (2009) | One of a small number of films I saw in the cinema this year. I liked it. Zachary Qunito did a great job as spock, as I expected. | |
| Strange Invaders (1983) | This wasn't very good at all. The lead was terrible and the ending more so. Some of the makeup effects, especially in the last 10 minutes were quite impressive however. | |
| Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li (2009) | This kept my attention but it wasn't a good film. Had to see Kristin Kreuk as Chun Li though. She could've been worse, some of the fights were terrible though.. that roundhouse kick had me laughing. Don't get my started on Chris Klein, he made the movie, his acting was hilariously bad. | |
| Teen Agent (1991) | aka If Looks Could Kill. I have fond memories of this when I was young, and have been looking for it for years. I think I saw it in the cinema. A few scenes stand out.. the scorpion on his stomach while he's trying to open his combat condoms.. and those shoes that let him walk/slide down walls.. Just watched it again. It's just as I remember it, though even camper. I don't remember the lead being so feminine looking. | |
| Terror At Blood Fart Lake (2008) | Can't really find much info about this on the net yet. I'm not quite sure what I thought of it. It was strange. It was like a homage to a Troma horror. It was actually not that bad though. Nudity, cheesey one-liners, crazy over-acting that has gotta be intentional.. I can't believe it's sincere. Worth watching (only if you are a Troma fan though). | |
| The Ant Bully (2006) | Not a bad movie as far as an ant movie for kids go. I only watched it because Bruce Campbell was in it. He was great. | |
| The Atomic Cafe (1982) | Interesting film. | |
| The Big Hit (1998) | This was quite a strange film. Watched this with Vikki and we exchanged quite a few WTF looks during some scenes. | |
| The Boy Who Could Fly (1986) | Lucy Deakins was pretty in this. I remember watching this film at a very young age. The message at the end I always thought must have led to a few deaths "If you believe hard enough, you can fly". It hasn't aged all that terribly. | |
| The Cell 2 (2009) | This was a run of the mill TV serial killer thriller with a bit of telepathy thrown in. It was nothing like the original though. I guess there was a massive script change in the middle of production - the first film used technology and VR to enter a patient's mind. In this film, the girl was just a psychic (but they still used shots of her picking and choosing memories using a high-tech Minority Report style interface.. nonsensical. Though I did like the idea of the serial killer executing his victims only to continually revive them. | |
| The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) | Reminded me of Brazil or something in that vein. Interesting movie. | |
| The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) | This was alright, kept my attention. I'm not all that familiar with The Mummy films, so it worked as a stand-alone film just fine. John Hannah and Luke Ford were pretty annoying though. | |
| Unknown (2006) | I've seen a few films with a similar theme, this one was pretty decent. | |
| What Happens in Vegas (2008) | This was alright. Could've been worse. | |
| X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) | I liked this, better than X3, not as good as the original. Wolverine is my favourite X man though, so was keen to see the origin. | |
| Young Sherlock Holmes and the Pyramid of Fear (1985) | I think I watched this before on TV a long time ago. It's not a bad film if you are a Holmes fan. I liked some of the reinvented introductions to Holmes' character traits. I was trying to remember where I'd seen the guy who played Holmes before and then I realised he was the stoner weed grower from Lock Stock, very different characters :-) | |
| May 2009 | ||
| A.P.E.X. (1994) | Not sure if I saw this years ago or not but I do remember the VHS cover from the video store when I was a kid. It's a pretty awful movie with the usual non-sensical time paradox stuff. I liked one of the special effects they used.. let me see if I can explain it: the camera would pan over the robot's body, toggling between an animated wire frame view and normal view, just to look cool - each time it was wire frame, some gadget would extend or flex and look sophisticated and then be retracted by the time the camera switched to normal view again - very cheap way to add a little to the robot design. | |
| Aliens vs Monsters (2009) | This was okay. It inspired me to try and get hold of Attack of the 50ft Woman, I still haven't seen that yet. | |
| Blast From The Past (1999) | I like this movie. I wanted to check a detail and ended up watching the whole movie again. | |
| Dragonball Evolution (2009) | Despite a few hot girls and one or maybe two interesting fight scenes this was pretty boring. I ended up only half watching this while doing something else.. there was a lot of LoTR style walking. | |
| Foreign Exchange (2008) | Pretty terrible. | |
| Impact (2008) | This was alright. | |
| Knowing (2009) | Interesting film, sorta ruined by the Christian imagery. | |
| License to Wed (2007) | Not bad, John Krasinski was pretty good in the uncomfortable scenes. | |
| Mirrors (2008) | I liked this film, not quite sure what I thought of the ending. | |
| RocknRolla (2008) | Meh, this was alright. Nothing particularly new in it. I liked Gerald Butler's character, but there was far too much inane monologue/narration from the 'RocknRolla' guy - Johnny Quid. | |
| Seven Pounds (2008) | This was a nice idea, it seemed to drag on quite a bit though. | |
| Sex Drive (2008) | I really liked this, but not many people seem to agree. I watched the unrated version (first and only, despite their warnings) - it's exactly how an unrated version is meant to be. Seth Green stole the show and I didn't even recognise James Marsden, he was excellent as the Stifler like character. Not to mention Amanda Crew was gorgeous. | |
| Short Circuit (1986) | Was in the mood for this all of a sudden. One of my favourite kids/geek films. | |
| Short Circuit 2 (1988) | Again, was in the mood to watch this after seeing the original. It's just as good, or maybe even better than the original - more gadgets, more focus on Johnny Five. Gotta love Ben. The new Five had 500 megabytes of storage. I remember being quite upset by his attack when I was a kid. | |
| Sleepaway Camp (1983) | I've heard this talked about in so many slasher threads that I had to get hold of it and wow, just wow. I'm not going to say this was anywhere near good, but it has definitely got to be seen. It certainly lived up to it's reputation. From that scene with the aunt at the beginning to the final climactic ending it was fascinating (and I've seen plenty of worse slashers). The sequels can't possibly top this, but I've got them queued up to see next. | |
| Species (1995) | Some background distraction while I was playing WoW. It's not a bad film. | |
| Species 2 (1998) | Meh, not as good as the first, but fine for a distraction. Henstridge with the Fifth Element style outfit on is a bonus. | |
| Species 3 (2004) | Meh, worst of the three [so far], but it kept my attention. | |
| Spy Game (2001) | This isn't what I was expecting (I was confused with the kids movie). It was an okay film. | |
| Still Waiting (2009) | Could've been worse. | |
| Stir of Echoes (1999) | This was alright, more of a thriller than horror. | |
| The Arrival (1996) | Cheesey alien film, I liked it. | |
| The Children (2008) | Meh, a couple of interesting scenes. Village of the Damned did this better. | |
| The Hidden (1987) | Fun little 80s sci-fi movie. Sort of like Alien Nation meets Body Snatchers. | |
| The Spirit (2008) | This was not a good film, but the cinematography was fascinating. I wasn't quite sure what direction they were heading in from an artistic perspective nevermind the fact they couldn't quite settle on a genre. This should be seen for the costume department's efforts alone. | |
| The Uninvited (2009) | I liked this, even though I've watched far too many films like this already.. spotted the twist in the first 15 minutes. | |
| April 2009 | ||
| Aliens vs Predator (2004) | Meh, fascinating story idea, alright film. Just following on from an Aliens mood I was in. | |
| Dante 01 (2008) | Stylish film, reminded me of Alien. Ultimately failed though. Terrible ending. | |
| Dead Fury (2008) | Really wanted to like this. It wasn't too good though. It could/should have been one third the length. The voices were good though. | |
| Deception (2008) | This was ok. | |
| Die Another Day (2002) | Was in the mood to watch this again. It's okay. | |
| Eagle Eye (2008) | I enjoyed this. It's pretty much identical to Echelon Conspiracy. Wish I'd seen this first. | |
| Echelon Conspiracy (2009) | This was okay. It was an interesting idea. A lot of reviews compared it to Eagle Eye, so I watched that afterwards. Wish I'd watched it first. The story is pretty much identical. | |
| Night Watch (2004) | Reminding myself of the story before I watch the sequel. | |
| Once Bitten (1985) | Not a terrible movie, not good though. The two best friends were annoying. And that camp chase scene (that dragged on for ages) at the end.. geez.. | |
| Patlabor (1989) | I thought this was pretty boring. I normally like this sort of stuff. I watched the original Japanese with English subtitles, but I switched languages halfway through and realised I was missing far more unusually detailed dialogue. | |
| Rec (2007) | This was okay. I actually preferred the rip-off, Quarantine. | |
| Red Heat (1988) | Another Arnie fix. Fun 80s action flick. | |
| Rocketman (1997) | Dire | |
| Rocketship X-M (1950) | Oh, this is 1950s B-movie comedy gold. The chauvinistic language towards the woman on board the spaceship is priceless. And the professor in the trench coat in the cockpit.. Superb :-) | |
| Silver Hawk (2004) | Cheesetastic, was fun though. Michelle Yeon has a great figure. Plus it has the chick that plays the white haired demon witch from The Forbidden Kingdom. Hot. | |
| Stuck (2007) | This was alright. | |
| The Broken (2009) | This was okay. Wanted more from the ending though. Strange to see Sarah Connor not being Sarah Connor ;-) | |
| The Bucket List (2008) | Meh, does what it says on the tin. | |
| The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelation (2009) | I was pretty impressed with this. Wasn't expecting anything after not enjoying the sequel to The Butterfly Effect. It was pretty decent. | |
| The Contractor (2007) | Meh, could've been worse. | |
| The Genius Club (2006) | Wow, this was dire. Worst portrayal of geniuses I've ever see on screen. Who the hell could cast Stephen Baldwin as a genius? I knew exactly what I was going to get after the first few lines of dialog. | |
| The Lodger (2008) | This was okay. | |
| The Rocketeer (1991) | Was in the mood to watch this, don't think I'd seen it since the cinema. It hasn't aged all that well. | |
| The Running Man (1987) | Arnie mood one day. I wish he'd made a ton more of these type of movies in the 80s. | |
| Walk All Over Me (2007) | Even the lovely Tricia Helfer couldn't save this. I thought it was a comedy but it was pretty depressing in places. Didn't really hit the mark for a comedy or thriller or action, not quite sure what it was going for. | |
| March 2009 | ||
| About Adam (2001) | I quite liked this. Didn't like Adam at first but he got cooler :-p | |
| Babysitter Wanted (2008) | This was alright. It wasn't quite what I expected, which is always a good thing. | |
| Body of Lies (2008) | Decent film. | |
| Collateral Damage (2002) | I must have seen this around the time it came out, came back to me very quickly, but I was in an Arnie mood. | |
| Death Wish 2 (1982) | Reasonably paced action film. Not as good as the original. | |
| Death Wish 3 (1985) | Wow. This is a drunken-night-b-movie classic. Hardly even recognisable as a Death Wish movie. Cheesetastic. | |
| Fingersmith (2005) | Not what I expected, not that I read the synopsis. I enjoyed it though. | |
| Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (2004) | This was alright, I preferred the original, this one had less action and tried a bit hard trying to drive home it's message. | |
| King Ralph (1991) | Was in a bit of a John Goodman mood after watching Arachnophobia. This is an alright early 90s movie. | |
| My Name is Bruce (2006) | Excellent, didn't even know this existed. Fun Bruce Campbell madness :-) | |
| Retroactive (1997) | Nice little cult sci-fi/time travel movie. Wasn't really expecting this. James Belushi plays a cool villain. | |
| Spawn (1997) | Meh, this was okay. | |
| Tears in the Sun (2003) | I liked this, decent action film. I was quite interested in the military technology and how it was reasonably underplayed - the throat mics and satellite tracking on the rugged laptop. | |
| The Blob (1988) | Not sure if I'd actually seen this before, if I had it was a long time ago. It's a fun little movie. | |
| The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2009) | This was okay, nothing to make me recommend it really though. | |
| The Stuff (1985) | Awful, but fun, B movie. | |
| The Tiger's Tail (2006) | I liked this, the last scene was quite heartwarming. Gleeson was pretty good. | |
| Twilight (2008) | Meh. Average for it's genre. The characters were quite pretentious - sorta emo-catalogue-model vampires. | |
| Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) | Rambling averageness. Didn't seem to have much of a plot or anything to say. | |
| When A Stranger Calls (2008) | This was ok, bit messy with a contrived building/setting. I've seen worse though. | |
| Yes Man (2008) | It was okay, kept my attention. | |
| February 2009 | ||
| Ace Ventura Jr (2009) | Even a huge Ace fan like me couldn't find anything good in this. The lead, Ace, was terrible. No charisma. | |
| Arachnophobia (1990) | I loved this film when I was younger. It came on TV and I decided to watch it. Enjoyable. Always liked John Goodman's character. | |
| Bolt (2008) | I really liked this, good kids film. The animation at the beginning, with the puppy in the rescue home window was spot-on. | |
| Deadly Friend (1986) | Fun little 80's movie. Kirsty Swanson looked good. Crazy ending. | |
| Death Race (2008) | Meh, nothing special. Gratuitous eye candy can't be all bad. | |
| Donkey Punch (2008) | This was better than I expected. | |
| Down to Earth (2001) | I'd seen this a while ago and ended up watching it again. It's an okay movie. Chris Rock wasn't too annoying. | |
| Eden Lake (2008) | I thought this was really good. One of the best in it's genre. | |
| Ghost Town (2008) | I didn't like this much. | |
| Hound of the Baskervilles (2002) | This was okay. I wasn't overly found of Roxburgh's Holmes - he beat up a taxi driver for information.. among other things.. Also, taking drugs during a case? Strange.. | |
| Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (2007) | Now this was definitely different. I liked it. Very Bruce Campbell/Army of the Dead feel to it. | |
| Lakeview Terrace (2008) | This was okay, not really what I expected (I thought it would all be a lot more subtle), it kept my attention though. | |
| One Night at McCool's (2001) | I enjoyed this. I'd barely heard of it. It's amazing what some woman can do :-) Not that much of a Liv Tyler fan, but she certainly pulls off manipulative seduction in this movie. | |
| Outlander (2008) | This had such a promising start, the technology looked cool. I enjoyed the film, but it was more of a monster movie than science fiction. Definitely worth watching though. | |
| Quarantine (2008) | Meh, this was okay. Need to see [rec] which is apparently better. | |
| Red Eye (2005) | I liked this. | |
| Revolutionary Road (2008) | Meh, thought this was a little slow. Pretty decent acting though. | |
| Screamers: The Hunting (2009) | This wasn't that great, but for a straight-to-dvd sci-fi feature I've certainly seen a lot worse. One positive thing though; the mechanical creature effects and make-up were superb better than most other features of this type I've seen, not overly original, but very well done. | |
| The Case of the Whitechapel Vampire (2002) | This was mediocre. Holmes' voice and acting was very theatrical. | |
| The Day The Earth Stood Still (2008) | Not a patch on the original. Not quite sure which message they were trying to get across. It could have been worse though. | |
| The House Bunny (2008) | Meh, nice to look at. Took about three sittings to get through though. | |
| The International (2009) | I thought this was very average. | |
| The Rocker (2008) | Decent film, liked Wilson's performance. | |
| The Shape of Things (2003) | This was okay, I liked the twisted story. | |
| Vampire in Brooklyn (1995) | Fun little movie. | |
| Without a Paddle (2004) | Meh. | |
| January 2009 | ||
| 8 Man After (1993) | Basically Robocop (I understand the series predates it anyway?) but far too much crazy anime effects just put me off. | |
| A Sound of Thunder (2005) | Wow. This was dire. The whole premise was flawed.. So many little weird things.. | |
| Alien Planet (2005) | Interesting. | |
| Alien Raiders (2008) | I was impressed with this, wasn't expecting much at all. Kept me entertained. | |
| And Then There Were None (1945) | Some strange acting in places, and might have been a little slow, but I liked this. I want to find some more murder-mystery-in-a-mansion type films. | |
| Bad Moon Rising (1988) | Cheesy action flick, was alright. | |
| Battle Planet (2008) | I should have liked this more, the whole idea of a suit (or chip) that protects you, regulates body functions etc has always been a daydream of mine. The film wasn't good, I've seen a lot worse sci-fi channel type movies though. | |
| Black Moon Rising (1986) | Meh, was alright. | |
| C.R.A.Z.Y. (2005) | Interesting film, I liked it. Ironed toast :-) | |
| Chaos (2005) | Better than I expected. | |
| Choke (2008) | ||
| Clue (1985) | I liked this. Fun, camp cult movie. | |
| Dumb and Dumber (1994) | Was in the mood to watch this, I like it. | |
| Dumb and Dumberer (2006) | Bad film. Filled a gap. I'm surprised the male lead taking Carrey's role isn't in more, I thought he did a good Jim Carrey playing Lloyd if nothing else.. | |
| Ed Wood (1994) | Fascinating man, I checked some of the facts presented in this and it seems pretty accurate, I knew so little about this director I enjoy. | |
| Expelled: No Intelligence (2008) | Oh, this was superb! Marvelous example of mind-numbing manipulative propaganda. | |
| Fat Girls (2002) | Kinda different, wanted to like it, but it just seemed a little false. | |
| Gosford Park (2001) | I liked this, not what I was expecting. Maggie Smith was great, Kelly Macdonald was cute as ever. | |
| If Looks Could Kill (1986) | Bah, thought this was a film I've been looking for, Teen Agent (aka If Looks Could Kill) but it wasn't. It was a completely dire murder/thriller type thing. Very bad. | |
| Inside Man (2006) | Good movie. | |
| Just Visiting (2001) | I liked this. | |
| Murder By Death (1976) | Interesting, quirky little movie. | |
| Nirvana (1997) | Not quite sure what I thought of this.. a little too far out and abstract (the VR) for me. Some interesting ideas though. Plus, blue hair chick! Woo. | |
| Punch Drunk Love (2002) | Interesting, quite a different role for Adam Sandler. The movie felt a little disjointed though. | |
| Quantum of Solace (2008) | I enjoyed this film, but it's not James Bond. | |
| Slumdog Millionaire (2008) | Good movie. | |
| Splinter (2008) | Could've been worse. | |
| Step Brothers (2008) | Watched this again so Vikki could see it. It wasn't as funny as I remembered, but it's a fun movie. | |
| Teen Witch (1989) | This was rubbish. | |
| The Condemned (2006) | Pretty much Battle Royale, though not as good. Was a reasonably decent action film though. | |
| The Gift (2000) | Not bad, seen this sorta thing a few times before though. | |
| The Incredible Hulk (2008) | Was ok. | |
| The Life Before Her Eyes (2006) | This was alright. | |
| The Majestic (2001) | I liked this, quite an emotional movie. | |
| The Night Listener (2001) | Interesting film. | |
| The Strangers (2008) | This was alright, I've seen plenty of similar things before, but it could have been worse. Funny Games comes to mind, that was superb. | |
| Time After Time (1979) | Interesting film. | |
| Towelhead (2008) | I liked this, American Beauty-esque. | |
| Tower of Terror (1997) | This was alright, sorta half-watched it. Okay for a family movie. | |
| X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) | Just in the mood to see the third in the series, I preferred the first two to this. | |
| X2 (2003) | Noticed this on ITV2 while I was channel flicking and ended up watching it again. Enjoyed it. | |
| December 2008 | ||
| Batteries Not Included (1987) | Hadn't seen this in more than a decade. It's a fun little 80s film. The mechanical creature effects are great for the time, very anthropomorphic. | |
| Blindness (2008) | I liked this. | |
| Blood Wars (2008) | This was dire. It was a pretty amazing transformation when the guy became a vampire though (not effects-wise, just the work out he must have put in to tone up like that). | |
| Cannonball Run 2 (1984) | More of the same, was okay. | |
| Cannonball Run Europe: Great Escape (2005) | Didn't realise this was a documentary, I thought it was a remake/homage - oh well, it was alright, kept my attention, not what I was looking for though. | |
| Cocoon (1985) | Saw this before, long time ago. Cute little film. | |
| Cocoon: The Return (1988) | Just watched the original, this one was a little bit more sombre than the first. | |
| Code 46 (2003) | I liked this, reminded me a little of Gattaca. The acting was superb from both leads. | |
| Conjurer (2008) | Bah, didn't like this. I've seen the exact same sorta thing at least five times before, and done better. | |
| Fly Me To The Moon (2008) | I didn't like this much. They sure gave their little friend a hard time about being overweight. Guess it was an okay kids film. | |
| Henry Poole Is Here (2008) | I liked this film. Luke Wilson is an underrated actor in my opinion. | |
| How to Lose Friends and Alienate People (2008) | I enjoyed this. Simon Pegg was good in it. | |
| Kung Fu Panda (2008) | This was alright. Decent kids film. | |
| Max Payne (2008) | Meh, nothing special. | |
| Mission to Mars (2000) | I liked this. I actually cared about the characters, not Gary Sinise though. | |
| Navy Seals (1990) | Fun 90s action flick. | |
| Old School (2003) | Meh, was alright. | |
| Passenger 57 (1992) | Watched this (again, seen it years ago) to renew my faith in Wesley Snipes after that awful The Art of War 2. It's a decent action film. Forgot Bruce Payne was the villian, I like him. It's a little dated and has a terrible cheesy ending but it's alright for a 90s action film. Just noticed Snipes' character was reading The Art of War on the plane. | |
| Prom Night (2008) | Decent horror remake. Haven't seen the original though. That's on my list. | |
| Saw 5 (2008) | This was alright, more of the same I guess. Liked the ending, though I don't like the villain. He doesn't seem intelligent or disciplined enough to pull it off. | |
| Smart People (2008) | Interesting film, pretty much what I expected. | |
| Smokey and the Bandit 2 (1983) | Not sure if I like this. A review had probably coloured my opinion. It was watchable. | |
| Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) | This was okay. | |
| The Art of War (2000) | Not a clue I'd already seen this film until the climatic battle at the end. I liked the gunkata in the end fight. Overall it was pretty average. I liked Maury Chaykin's character. | |
| The Art of War 2 (2008) | This was pretty terrible. The hacker group and the 'hacktivist' were a joke, cute girls though. Fighting was poor. Crap. | |
| The Cannonball Run (1981) | Was in a Burt Reynolds/Bandit sorta mood and watched this. I enjoyed it, I have some fond memories of it from when I was younger. | |
| The Changeling (1980) | Was expecting more from this but I found it very slow. It's the sort of thing I've seen many times before. | |
| The Dead Zone (1983) | I liked this, think I'd seen it before at some point. | |
| The Deaths of Ian Stone (2007) | This was a decent movie. Unique premise. The ending left me itching for a sequel, in a good way :-) | |
| The Final Cut (2004) | This was a good film. The technology was fascinating, the culture it created interesting, and the whole central idea of Robin William's main character was done very well. | |
| Tombstone (1993) | Great film, I'd seen it years before. I loved the performances, especially Van Kilmer's character. I'm gonna look out some more Val Kilmer films. I was just thinking of him in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, also great performance there. | |
| Transporter 3 (2008) | Bah, pretty rubbish. I liked the original but the sequels just got too far-fetched. Alright if you are in the mood for that sort of thing though. Why was the female lead from this movie (and the previous one) so unattractive? I guess I just have a thing against too many freckles.. | |
| Virus (1999) | There were some reasonably well done gore/mechanical effects, but the movie overall is pretty forgettable. | |
| While She Was Out (2008) | I was reasonably impressed with this. It wasn't what I expected. The leads, Kim Basinger and Lucas Haas, were great. Probably in my top ten movies of 2008. At the time of writing the review on IMDB is 5/10, I'd give it an 8. | |
| Zack and Miri Make A Porno (2008) | I liked this, had a very Kevin Smith feel to it. | |
| November 2008 | ||
| 2010 (1984) | Strange.. I wasn't sure if I watched this already, I thought I had, then I checked this list and noticed I'd watched it a year or two ago and had wrote the same thing.. I couldn't remember the end. Anyway, planned to skip through and re-watch the end, but those old computer graphics and AI stuff caught my eye and I ended up rewatching the whole thing. I liked this movie. The ending seems a little.. I dunno.. not sudden, but something along those lines - maybe that's why I keep feel like I've forgotten the ending. | |
| Android (1982) | Kinda interesting, fun 80s film. I liked the end scene. Wanted to see more 'androidy' stuff though. | |
| Bangkok Dangerous (2008) | This wasn't so good. Man.. he needs to do something about that hair.. | |
| Battle For The Planet Of The Apes (1972) | As I said about the previous installment. Meh. | |
| Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) | Working my way through the series. This was okay. Can't decide if Linda Harrison is beautiful, or if its just the outfit and the fact she's the only girl in the movie, that and she doesn't talk. | |
| Big Nothing (2006) | This was awful. Hated Simon Pegg's accent. | |
| Bigger, Stronger, Faster (2008) | Interesting. | |
| Bulletproof (1996) | I enjoyed this a lot. There was great chemistry between the two leads. Plus it has the girl who played the elf in Dungeons and Dragons. | |
| Burn After Reading (2008) | Good movie. One of the best of 2008 I'd say. The characters were all interesting. I liked Brad Pitt's style, he seemed very like he was back in the early 90s. | |
| Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes (1972) | This is the start of the 'shouting, roaring, squeaking-in-ernest' segment of the series. Man, I turned the volume down once or twice.. All that bloody screaming was annoying me. I only half watched this.. Just completing the series. I've saw too many sci-fi identical to this (without the apes.. faction against faction, it's all the same). | |
| Escape From The Planet Of The Apes (1971) | Meh. Just working my way through the series. Only just noticed how stupid the whole premise is... Human level intelligence evolving in two thousand years, after they'd been domesticated within 8 years when the household pets were completely wiped out by a 'space plague'? Come on.. | |
| Futurama: Bender's Game (2008) | Meh. Didn't really like this as much as the others. | |
| Futureworld (1976) | I liked this, this is my sorta movie. Not sure if I preferred Westworld or not.. Nice plot idea. Not to mention, I so wanna go to Delios. | |
| Joy Ride (2001) | This wasn't that great. | |
| Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead (2008) | Meh, this was average. Interesting the boyfriend was held and the girl had to save him, it's usually the opposite. | |
| Loaded (2008) | This was okay. | |
| Millenium (1989) | Had no idea what to expect with this film. I enjoyed it, but the ending made no sense at all. | |
| Persepolis (2007) | Watched this with Jax. Interesting, unusual. Reminded me a little of Amile. | |
| Pineapple Express (2008) | I liked this, some funny scenes. I'm not sure what I think of the lead though. Also, it took me two or three sittings to watch. | |
| Planet of the Apes (1968) | I'd only seen this in parts on TV as far as I can remember. It's a good film. Some over the top performances by Heston, but that's why we love him.. "It's a madhouse! A madhouse!" | |
| Red (2008) | Good film. Fascinating character. | |
| Smiley Face (2008) | Pot humor. I liked it - The film didn't go anywhere, but that was the point. Ana Faris is cute as ever, even when she's putting those crazy faces on. | |
| Snow Angels (2007) | Interesting movie. Kate was lovely as usual. Liked the ex-husband character. | |
| Some Like It Hot (1959) | Man.. I just didn't get the humour in this. Certainly, it was okay to watch. But, best comedy of all time? Don't see it.. | |
| Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) | I actually listened to the Rifftrax version of this. It wasn't too great. Actually, I was more interested in the original dialogue even though I've seen it before. | |
| Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) | I'd forgotten the whole plot to this, and was inspired to watch it again. I love the idea (of the main character) some people have compared it to the Borg, or even went as far to say it's the father of the borg and so on.. interesting. | |
| Step Brothers (2008) | I liked this. Pretty funny. | |
| Supergirl (1984) | The mood grabbed me and I watched this again. Think this girl was one of my first crushes.. still is :-) | |
| The Heartbreak Kid (2007) | I enjoyed this, was kinda similar to Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The female lead reminded me of Cameron Diaz (in her style of acting). | |
| The Root of All Evil (2006) | Felt like watching this again while I was working on something. | |
| The Signal (2007) | This was very strange. I have a feeling I already seen it. Watched it with Vikki, there were plenty of WTF moments between us. | |
| The Visitor (2007) | I was kinda of expecting something like Pacific Heights with Michael Keaton, but I enjoyed this film, it was well done. I thought Haaz Sleiman was a good actor, will try to look out for him. | |
| Tropic Thunder (2008) | Watched this for a second time with Vikki. | |
| War of the Worlds (2005) | Just wanted to watch the introduction scene where the tripods rise from the ground and ended up watching the whole film again. | |
| Weekend at Bernie's (1989) | Fun 80s film. Seen similar stuff already though. | |
| Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden (2008) | Meh, could have been better. | |
| Witchboard (1986) | Great cheesy movie. The boyfriend (either one) was one of those characters you love to hate. | |
| October 2008 | ||
| Bachelor Party (1984) | This was alright, especially for the time. One or two great lines. Interesting to see such a young looking Tom Hanks. Debbie and Tracey were both pretty hot :-) | |
| Cyborg Soldier (2008) | My god. What was this? The technology throughout the movie was antiquated, I double checked the production year. Plus, we didn't see much 'impressive cybernetic stuff' from our lead.. | |
| Death at a Funeral (2007) | Only watched this because an imdb post said the introduction scene was comparably funny with the Super Troopers intro. It was nowhere near it. I enjoyed the film. The performance by Alan Tudyk as the guy high on acid was priceless. Daisy Donovan looked as cute as ever too. | |
| Death Note (2006) | I enjoyed this a lot. Great protagonist and an interesting antagonist. | |
| Death Note: The Last Name (2006) | Enjoyed it. | |
| Hard Candy (2005) | This was alright. There was something missing though - the lack of villainy maybe? | |
| Highlander 2 (1991) | I thought I'd seen this, but after the first two minutes I knew I hadn't. So they're aliens? What? Was this a retcon or what? Do the rest of the series ignore this? Mental. There were some amazingly kitch scenes involving bagpipe music, has to be seen. | |
| Kiss of the Dragon (2001) | This was pretty crap. The fight between Jet and the two blonde Germans was farcical. | |
| May (2002) | Meh, was okay. Ana Faris was cute in it. | |
| Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow (2008) | Kids film. It was nothing special, I don't know much of that universe though. | |
| Puddle Cruiser (1996) | Wanted a fix of some more Broken Lizard, this was nowhere near as good as Super Troopers but it was interesting to see the group again - they all looked pretty young. | |
| Slipstream (2005) | Terrible movie. | |
| Taken (2008) | I liked this a lot. Was quite impressed with Liam Neeson's fight scenes too. One of the better action/thrillers I've seen this year. | |
| The Core (2003) | This was alright, it kept me entertained. I hate the guy that played the hacker, he has just always bugged me, it was an awful, unnecessary character as well. I liked his first scene when he was raided though. I quite like Aaron Eckhart after noticing him in The Dark Knight. | |
| The Dark Knight (2008) | Excellent film. I was very impressed with Heath Ledger. | |
| The Matrix: Reloaded (2003) | I was in the mood to watch this again after the pub one night. Decent film. | |
| The Matrix: Revolutions (2003) | Had to see the end after watching the 2nd one again.. Meh, it's the Matrix. | |
| The Mutant Chronicles (2003) | Meh, didn't like this so much. Watched it over three sittings. | |
| Tropic Thunder (2008) | Wow, I really liked that. Very impressed with Robert Downey Jr and Tom Cruise's character was fun too. Very good. | |
| War, Inc (2008) | This was alright. I'm not sure if some of it went over my head or not.. Seems like Team America already did what they were aiming to do, and better. I might watch this again though. I was surprised how hot Hilary Duff looked with dark hair/makeup. | |
| Wind Chill (2003) | Pretty cliche, but I liked it. | |
| September 2008 | ||
| Shrek the Third (2008) | ||
| Ice Station Zebra (1968) | This is an okay film. The version I saw had some strange scenes.. like what felt like a minute of "3ft.. 2ft.. 2ft.. 2ft.. 3ft.. 3ft..", awkwardly long footage of planes flying through the sky and it also came with postcard-like intro, exits and intermissions. | |
| The Gate (1987) | Fun little 80s movie. | |
| Loch Ness Terror (2008) | This was as dire as I expected. Not even any eye candy. | |
| Keeping Mum (2003) | I liked this film. Rowan Atkinson was great in it. I wanted to see more of the woman at the beginning, she was, for lack of a better word, delightful. | |
| Can't Buy Me Love (1987) | Meh. | |
| Catwoman (2004) | Wow. Utter tripe. What a terrible costume. Silly cat impressions. Annoyingly bouncy ragdoll CGI. Terrible plot. Crap villain. Awkward love interest. I don't think they got anything right. | |
| Night Shift (1982) | Highlight was certainly Shelly Long making breakfast, as for the rest of the movie, meh. | |
| Quatermass 2 (1957) | Exactly what I expected, overacted B-movie crap, loved it. | |
| Fantastic Voyage (1966) | I thought I'd seen this before, but missed the beginning, so essentially, I just watched the beginning and fast forwarded through the rest, obviously immensely dated today - might have been a good movie in its time. They could have learned a few things from Star Trek - those 'ship turbulence' scenes were dreadful. | |
| Frankenstein (2007) | Not a terrible adaptation. | |
| Eve of Destruction (1991) | Wow. This was crap. The hero looked like Droopy. The baddie looked like a glam housewife. Everything about this was not good. Plus, how did they manage to make this in 1991, feature advanced robotics, and still have the film look like it was set in the late 70s/early 80s? I'm sure that wasn't intentional. | |
| Get Smart (2008) | I liked this, fun spoof. Steve Carell has never disappointed. Could Anne Hathaway be any hotter? | |
| 48 Hours (1982) | I liked this. Nick Nolte as the ultimate jaded cop. One of Eddie Murphy's earlier films, he was great in it. Plus it has the immortal line "I'm your worst nightmare, a nigger with a badge". Also, a pretty brutal villain, which is good. | |
| Meet Dave (2008) | Watched this while I was doing something else. It was an okay film, not as bad as I expected. | |
| The Monster Squad (1987) | An 80s teen comedy/horror with the Dr. Demento cast - Frankenstein, The Creature from the Black Lagoon (Gill-Man), Dracula, Wolfman and The Mummy - how can this cheese master piece have passed me by? Worth watching for the last 30 seconds when the army show up and the music starts. Edam gold. | |
| The X-Files (2008) | I was impressed by this. It's always a good sign when a TV series that makes it to the big screen doesn't feel like an extra long episode. Interesting story, good acting, decent film. | |
| Quatermass and the Pit (1967) | 12 years for a sequel.. I didn't like this as much, it had some great B-movie dialogue and chauvinism but the whole plot (and that late 20 minutes) was pretty dire. Some great lines as well, along the lines of "Everybody knows there's no life on Mars! Except lichen". | |
| Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the Thirteenth (2000) | Meh, not great, though interesting to see that it was written before Scary Movie. | |
| The Quatermass Xperiment (1955) | I liked this, good B-movie stuff. Quatermass was an interesting character. | |
| Destination Moon (1950) | Heralded as one of the first 'trying-to-actually-be-accurate' sci-fi films, which was fascinating, in that it was filmed 19 years before the moon landings. That guy Joe from Brooklyn's accent drove me crazy though.. | |
| The Terminal (2004) | Been meaning to watch this movie for a while. It was an okay film. | |
| August 2008 | ||
| All The Boys Love Mandy Lane (2008) | This wasn't very good at all. Besides that, I hate watching these American films with a group of guys and girls going away somewhere alone together and the guys act like complete bastards, walking the line between harassment and rape, but the girls treat it like "Oh, what a jock", that's the only scary part of this film. | |
| Battle Beyond The Stars (1980) | Meh, John-boy in space star wars esque cheeseyness.. Gotta love that 'dummy' line. Nothing special stood out really.. | |
| Beyond The Time Barrier (1960) | Interesting idea at the time, maybe, but I've seen it all before. | |
| Big Stan (2007) | Rob Schneider surprised me. I wasn't expecting to like this much, but I did. Certainly one of the best comedies of the year for me. Schneider fought pretty well too. | |
| Boot Camp (2007) | This was pretty crap. There wasn't much of a horror aspect to this horror film - the camp was meant to be terribly repressive and dangerous, but one person had died over a year ago, another drowned after an endurance run, and one girl was raped on-screen, plus there was some shouting. There was nothing to escape from.. Waste of time. | |
| Code Hunter (2002) | aka Virtual Storm, Storm Watch - This was a pretty dire movie. Bai Ling had blue hair but that was about all it had going for it. Crazy VR nonsense.. | |
| Def-con 4 (1985) | Pretty crap. | |
| Diary of the Dead (2007) | Worst Romero film yet. Not much worth mentioning here at all.. As somebody on imdb put it "when the highlight of your movie is a deaf amish ninja, you know you've got problems". | |
| Doctor Who: The Movie (1996) | Meh, this was alright, it could have been a lot worse, nothing special though. Very little technology or interesting ideas though - all set on Earth with a possessed guy chasing the doctor.. run of the mill sci-fi story. | |
| Felon (2008) | Enjoyed this film. Val Kilmer was great in it. | |
| Fido (2006) | I've seen this before, but I thought Jax and Sandy would like it so we watched it on a lazy Saturday afternoon. It's a great film. | |
| Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) | Watched this with Kim when we both had hangovers. I quite liked the movie, it was fun, the acting was pretty decent. Mila looked nice. | |
| Futurama: Bender's Big Score (2007) | Meh, just a long episode, was ok. | |
| Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs (2008) | Meh, just a long episode, was ok. Better than the other Futurama movie. | |
| GamerZ (2005) | This was okay, it might not have liked it if it wasn't Glaswegian though. Not a patch on the The Gamers. | |
| Hancock (2008) | This was alright, I was expecting a little more though. I'd have liked to learn more about the history behind his abilities. Plus, as the critics have said, it did lack a central villan. | |
| Highlander III: The Sorcerer (1994) | Meh, pretty much what I expected. A reviewer brought my attention to the music, which I did quite like. | |
| Highlander IV (2000) | Meh. Was reading slashdot while watching this.. | |
| Love Potion No. 9 (1992) | This wasn't too bad. | |
| Meet Bill (2007) | I liked this. | |
| One Point O (2004) | I like this, a little slow, but atmospheric and stylish. Interesting idea with the virus too. Heard about it via www.cyberpunkreview.com - I've since added a bunch of movies reviewed there to my list. | |
| So Close (2002) | Fun action movie, the two sisters were beautiful and there were some great scenes particularly the assassination at the beginning. | |
| Superman II (2006) | As soon as I heard there was a director's cut of the 1980 movie, I had to see it. It was pretty different from the original I remember, it was great to see some of the extra scenes and the different structure to the story. I think I prefer the original though, it had more character and seemed more light hearted. Still fun though. | |
| Supernova (2000) | Not a great movie. | |
| Suspension (2008) | Interesting film. | |
| The Batman and Superman Movie (1998) | This was okay, nothing special. | |
| The Gamers (2002) | Great, funny D&D film from Dead Gentlemen Productions. I'd seen it before more than once, but wanted to show it to Jax. Watched it when Sandy was over. I'll need to track down the other film, Dorkness Rising, from the same guys. | |
| The Good Son (1993) | Decent little movie, reminds me of something else though. Not sure if I saw it before when I was younger. | |
| The Happening (2008) | I enjoyed this, there were some great scenes in the movie. Not sure what exactly was going on with the relationship between the two leads though. Kept my attention anyway. | |
| The Hive (2008) | Crap movie. | |
| The Langoliers (1995) | Some terribly corny bits of dialogue and some really cheesey moments aside, I liked this film. Interesting premise.. | |
| The Postman (1997) | I'd been wanting to see this for a while. I enjoyed the film, I don't quite see why it was so critically panned (as I remember). That said, I've already read the novel and the movie portrayal of Gordon is criminally inaccurate. | |
| The Shepherd: Border Patrol (2008) | Meh. | |
| Virtuosity (1995) | Meh, fun little movie. I remember seeing it a long time ago and wondering how the whole TV ratings plot point worked. The effects were pretty reasonable for a 1995 movie. | |
| Wall-e (2008) | Decent kids film. | |
| Wanted (2008) | Angelina was about the only thing going for this movie. Meh. | |
| World Without End (1956) | Meh. Some great bits of misogynistic dialog :-) | |
| July 2008 | ||
| Alpha Dog (2006) | I enjoyed this. The young lead actor, the little brother, was superb. I'd look out for more films with him. | |
| Cube Zero (2004) | This was meh, more of the same from the sequel. Interesting to see some more of the mythos behind the cube, but to be honest, they should just have left it with the first movie. | |
| Definitely, Maybe (2008) | I liked this and liked the characters. It's rare for a modern romantic film not to have terribly conceited dialog, a la 27 dresses. | |
| Drillbit Taylor (2008) | This was an ok kids film. | |
| Exotica (1994) | Got this just to see the dance scene in context but ended up watching the whole film. Interesting. | |
| Flatland (2000) | Fascinating portrayal of the Flatlanders. Interesting little film. | |
| Fluke (1995) | I'd wanted to see this after reading the book, it was okay, cute dog actors and I didn't expect Samuel Jackson to be in this. | |
| Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008) | Watched this with Jax, a good chunk of the humor didn't exactly 'click' with me, but I liked it. Neil Patrick Harris was great though :-) | |
| In Her Shoes (2005) | This was on Film4, two and half hours! Sheesh. Never watched a romantic comedy that long. Cameron Diaz still looks absolutely stunning. It was an okay film, definitely more of a chick-flick. | |
| Kill Bill Vol 1 (2003) | Half-watched this when it came on TV - I was at my parents at the time. Stylish movie, still not sure what my thoughts actually are on it though - seems like more of a homage to Tarantino than one of his movies. | |
| Kill Bill Vol 2 (2004) | Caught this a week later on TV when I came back in from the pub, 'tis alright. | |
| Mr Woodcock (2007) | Was expecting a little more from this, but there were some great one-liners. | |
| Prey (2007) | Meh, pretty much what I expected. It could have been a lot worse. | |
| Returner (2002) | Fun little sci-fi film. | |
| Starman (1984) | I watched parts of this on TV when I was young, but always wanted to rewatch it. It's an okay movie, far more romance than sci-fi, which is what I expected. Meh. | |
| The Cottage (2008) | I liked this - it was sort of a mix of Shallow Grave and Shaun of the Dead but not really like either at all.. Cheesey fun, some great scenes too - with the spade for example :-) | |
| The Ruins (2008) | Some great scenes in this film and a couple of great shots. Nothing overly special though, watchable. | |
| The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008) | I liked this, good family movie. | |
| The Terminator (1984) | This came on TV late one night and I felt like watching it. Good as ever. | |
| Vexille (2007) | I liked this. | |
| June 2008 | ||
| 24 Hours on Craiglist (2005) | I've always thought about making this sort of documentary. Hadn't heard of it until recently, interesting film. | |
| Above The Law (1988) | Was in the mood for something mindless one night and decided to put this on, though I think I watched it last year. Anyway, it's one of those movies that has to be seen if nothing else for 'The Run' and 'The Bartender', cult classics. | |
| American Pie:The Naked Mile (2007) | Average recycled American Pie humour. It was what I expected of course, but I had to keep myself busy playing WoW and reading slashdot to get all the way through this. | |
| Clockstoppers (2002) | Took me a second to place Joey from Hackers. I didn't like this film much, even though it's about one of my favourite science fiction fantasies - manipulating time with a watch. Couldn't quite figure out if it was a kid's movie or not either.. | |
| Crank (2006) | Weird movie. Not quite sure what I thought of it. | |
| Death Sentence (2007) | I quite enjoyed this movie. Very much like Punisher or Death Wish. Kevin Bacon's character grew on me too. | |
| Deep Impact (1998) | Stumbled across a trailer for this and it inspired me to watch it again. I quite like this movie. Nothing particularly great about it, just fun. | |
| Eagle vs Shark (2008) | Interesting film, lots of subtle cringe-humour. Reminded me a little of Napoleon Dynamite. The second half is a lot better than first. | |
| I Want Candy (2007) | Watched with Vik. Meh, was alright. Remarkably little flesh for a movie about porn :-p | |
| Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) | Watched this in Cineworld with my family for my dad's birthday. It was fun film but it was a little sad to see Indiana so aged, plus a lot of the action was overplayed and too far-fetched. Enjoyed it though. There were lots of little nods to the fans. | |
| Kickin' It Old School (2007) | Meh, could've been a lot worse. | |
| Maniac Cop (1988) | I remember the cover of this video so well. I always used to watch to rent it when I went to the video shop with my dad, but was never allowed. So I finally got around to getting hold of the series (didn't know there was a series) and watched them over the weekend. Usual run of the mill slash stuff, but I enjoyed it. Didn't realise Bruce Campbell was in these. Fun. | |
| Maniac Cop 2 (1990) | 01/06/08 | |
| Maniac Cop 3 (1993) | 01/06/08 | |
| Napoleon Dynamite (2004) | First film Jax and I watched together. It'd been a while since I seen it. Jax was right - "The dance at the end saved that movie". | |
| Outpost (2007) | I enjoyed this, bit slow in parts, and was maybe a little too similar to The Bunker etc but some scenes looked amazing. | |
| Return to the Batcave (2003) | This was a great campy homage to the series. Actually makes me wanna get hold of some of the originals. | |
| Semi-Pro (2008) | Didn't like this much. Just not very funny. | |
| Slacker (1991) | I liked this film, there are definitely some scenes and characters that are gonna stick with me for quite a while. I looked this up after either Kevin Smith recommended it, or it was mentioned by somebody as inspiring him. | |
| Strange Wilderness (2008) | There were some great moments, but I'm not sure if they outweighed the rest of the filler. | |
| Talladega Nights (2006) | Pretty much what I've come to expect from a Wil Ferrel movie (though I've seen this out of order). Meh. I always fail to recognise Sacha Baron Cohen. | |
| The American Astronaut (2001) | Wasn't sure what to expect with this film (I was sorta thinking of The Astronaut's Wife and so on). Wow, shocked. This film was utterly mental. I sat back and after the first few minutes (that song in the bathroom), I was hooked. I've rewatched some scenes a lot :-p | |
| The Day The Earth Caught Fire (1965) | It took me a few sittings to get through this, not for any particular reason I don't think, just wasn't getting into it that much. I did quite enjoy it though. | |
| The Onion Movie (2008) | I only decided to watch this after seeing the ONN, it was alright, I prefer just watching the sketches on ONN though. | |
| The Ten (2007) | Meh. | |
| Timber Falls (2007) | Watched this with Vik. Run of the mill sorta thing. Was ok. | |
| Tin Man (2007) | This three part miniseries was okay. Some interesting ideas and directions they took with the characters.. Passed the time. | |
| Treasure Planet (2007) | Meh, knew what to expect and go exactly what I expected. I half-heartedly watched this while playing WoW. | |
| Untraceable (2007) | I was surprised at this film. It was a run of the mill thriller, with some scenes that reminded me of Saw. The main reason I watched it though was because I'd heard people complaining about the terrible inaccuracies of the technology that was used. After watching it though I was mildly impressed, certainly there was plenty of 'huh?' moments, but also some serious attempts to actually be a little accurate "The DNS servers are hosted in Russia, out of our jurisdiction... the TTL is so small it's getting a new IP every few minutes.." | |
| WarGames: The Dead Code (2008) | I was excited when I saw this, I'd never heard they were making it. Wow, what crap. l33tspeak noobie nonsense all the way. Makes films like Untraceable seem like a HOW-TO. The film was utterly dire. It was nice that they introduced WOPR, but besides that it was a total flop. Certainly on the worst of the year list. Plus, maybe I'm missing something, but they hadn't actually committed any crimes.. nor was there any real evidence against them.. They could just have turned themselves in.. | |
| May 2008 | ||
| 16 Blocks (2006) | Not a bad movie. I watched this because somebody referred to Bruce Willis's character as "the ultimate jaded cop", it was apt. | |
| All In (2006) | There's been a rut of really bad poker movies the past few years, but this one is definitely the worst I've seen so far. The poker play is cringe worthy and the entire plot and dialogue is laughable. | |
| Animal House (1978) | I'd seen this (or at least most of it) ages ago. Pretty run of the mill stuff. Maybe that is too high praise though.. | |
| Batman Begins (2005) | Didn't realise this was three years old already. I was in the mood for a superhero movie so watched this alongside Superman Returns. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention though. Still enjoyed it. | |
| Doomsday (2008) | Not great, but not too terrible for a homage B-movie. | |
| Friday (1995) | I like this movie alot. It was a movie I grew up with during high-school, we were always quoting lines from it "You got knocked the fuck out", "My back, my neck, my back and my neck!" "Don't nobody go in there for 35, 45 minutes". Quite impressive cinematography for a 1995 ghetto flick. I've been trying to pigeonhole this.. It's not really a stoner-movie.. More of a ghetto-movie like Boyz in Da Hood.. A combination.. stoner-ghetto maybe.. It's also interesting to note there is very little direct gun violence in this movie. | |
| Gamers (2006) | Was disappointed with this, simply unfunny. | |
| Gladiatress (2004) | Dire. | |
| Harrison Bergeron (1995) | This was an okay TV movie. I should read the book. | |
| Iron Man (2008) | Pretty good comic book movie. Some parts were very well done. | |
| Lars and the Real Girl (2007) | I liked this, quite surreal, but interesting. | |
| Meet The Robinsons (2007) | I watched this in a number of sittings, I didn't like it very much, even for a kid's film. | |
| National Treasure 2 (2007) | I didn't like this much at all. Too convenient, boring.. | |
| Over Her Dead Body (2008) | Rubbish, couldn't pay much attention to it. Forgettable. She was a ghost, where were the special effects? | |
| P.S. I Love You (2007) | Meh. This was okay, sweet, but a little 'convenient'. | |
| Predator 2 (1990) | Stumbled onto this on Film4 and decided to watch it again. Shouldn't have bothered, I remembered it scene-for-scene. | |
| Revolver (2006) | I enjoyed this. I saw the twist coming a mile off though. It's far too overused a meme in my opinion. The cinematography was also quite interesting, didn't expect so many styles to appear. | |
| Sahara (2005) | This wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Far too many over the top jumps and explosions, was boring. | |
| Slackers (2002) | This was okay. Nothing special. | |
| Superman Returns (2005) | 01/05/08 | |
| Superman: Doomsday (2007) | Twas alright. There were some interestingly dark elements for a comic book cartoon, like Doomsday snapping the necks of soldiers and killing Bambi :-p | |
| The Alibi (2006) | Great little movie. Steve Coogan was good. | |
| The Andromeda Strain (2008) | Watched the mini-series. It was okay. A few pointless deaths towards the end and some plot holes, but I liked it. Nowhere near as good as the original though. | |
| The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) | I liked this, the fight scenes were pretty good, though some did drag on a bit. White hair asian chick ftw! :-) | |
| The Golden Compass (2007) | This was okay, of course the book is better, but the girl pulled off Lyra pretty well. | |
| The Hard Way (1991) | Alright for an early 90s action comedy. | |
| The Invasion (2007) | I liked this but... Why are the heroes always woman these days? I want a decent new Die Hard Bruce Willis type character.. Also, I'd have liked to have seen more evidence of the aliens being interconnected, that was always freaky when one 'normal' is discovered, and the whole street turn to look in unison :-) | |
| The Keep (1983) | Absolutely rubbish. So bad I had to watch it over a number of sittings. | |
| The Lost Room (2008) | Kinda interesting premise. Wish they'd explained it all a little more though. | |
| Timecop (1994) | This is a cheestastic movie, full of plot holes, but I like it. When are science fiction writers going to learn not to set their movies only a decade in the future though? | |
| Vantage Point (2007) | I liked this, one of the better action/thriller type movies I've seen in a while. | |
| Who Killed The Electric Car? (2006) | Interesting documentary. I guess I already knew the answer though. | |

| 300 (2007) | I was inspired to watch this movie again after watching the spoof. Hadn't seen it since it was in the cinema. Good epic film. | |
| Alien vs Predator (2004) | This came on Film4 and I decided to watch it again. Meh. | |
| AVRP: Aliens vs Predator - Requiem (2007) | It kept me entertained, to an extent. Easily the worst one of the series though. | |
| Cloverfield (2008) | This was okay, pretty much what I expected. The creatures reminded me of The Mist. | |
| Dan in Real Life (2007) | Sweet movie. Carell was very genuine in this, liked it. | |
| Day of the Dead (2008) | Not sure why they used the title, it's not really a remake. It was alright, nothing great, no 'tension' really. | |
| Ghost Rider (2007) | Meh, this was alright. | |
| How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days (2003) | I liked this a lot - something is wrong with me. | |
| Jumper (2008) | Interesting film. | |
| Juno (2007) | Superb film, the lead was excellent, I imagine we'll see her a lot more in the future. | |
| Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) | Bollywood sci-fi musical. Wow, just wow. The lead reminded me a little of Bruce Campbell at times. Not quite sure what I thought of the movie - I mentally skimmed over all those bloody songs but the big number in the nightclub was kinda fun :-p I'll watch the sequels. | |
| Late Night (1998) | Interesting film. | |
| Meet the Spartans (2008) | This wasn't a great movie, there were some scenes that made me smile. Not as bad as the imdb rating (bottom 100 atm) indicates. | |
| P2 (2007) | I wasn't expecting much from this film, I was pleasantly surprised. | |
| Run Fatboy Run (2007) | Meh, was alright. | |
| Saw IV (2007) | Not bad for the fourth in a series. | |
| Stargate: The Ark of Truth (2008) | Just a long episode really, so I still liked it :-) | |
| Superhero Movie (2008) | Not that great, didn't feel like a spoof at all in some scenes. | |
| Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) | Always easy to spot a Tim Burton film. I enjoyed the movie, though I wasn't actually expecting a musical. | |
| The Baker (2007) | Quite a strange film, not in a particularly good way. | |
| The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) | Decent action film. | |
| The Crazies (1973) | I was disappointed with this as I knew it was a Romero film. I was only partly paying attention by the time it got half way through. | |
| The Deer Hunter (1978) | Not sure what I expected from this film. Meh. | |
| The Last Winter (2006) | This was pretty good. | |
| The Mist (2007) | I loved this film. Great ending. Loved the religious aspects to the characters. One of the best seige films I've seen in quite a while. | |
| Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) | This started off promisingly but failed miserably by about 15 minutes in. | |
| March 2008 | ||
| 30 Days of Night (2007) | Didn't like this so much, it was okay. Strange way to save the day.. The ending looked like it was unnecessary - they could just have waited it out.. Plus, I don't think they would have lasted the whole 30 days in any case.. Ho hum. | |
| Battlespace (2007) | Dire movie, the HUD was interesting, it's how I always imagined my body working when I was a kid (if I was a robot) with energy levels and boosts etc, though mine was more advanced :-p | |
| Bulletproof Monk (2004) | I was pleasantly surprised with this. Seann William Scott didn't play Stifler either. | |
| Dopamine (2003) | Interesting film, reminds me I need to get hold of that Helen Fisher book. Ron Livingston's brother looks like a cross between him and Lochlyn Munro (Greg from Scary Movie). | |
| Fast, Cheap and Out of Control (1997) | Interesting - not quite sure what it was saying though. | |
| Fearless Vampire Killers (1967) | Just watched this on Film Four. I'd never seen it before (and had actually probably gotten it confused with a different movie from the 80s). I'm not really sure what I thought. Almost all the reviews are positively glowing, but it didn't seem anything particularly special to me.. Maybe at the time it was something different. I think if I get the opportunity I'll watch it again just to see if I can appreciate it any more. | |
| Hitman (2007) | I liked this, great lead, nice homage to the game. | |
| Meteor Man (1993) | I thought this was a cute movie. Nothing too special, but watchable. There were a couple of scenes I really liked, especially the end fight - absorbing the martial arts knowledge only to have it replaced with catwalk skills :-) | |
| No Country for Old Men (2007) | Not sure I entirely understood this (I think I missed a bit of dialogue as well, those accents were thick!). It was an interesting movie though. | |
| Once Upon A Time in America (1984) | Wow, think this is the longest film I've ever seen. It was a good movie though. Robert De Niro's makeup was excellent. | |
| Satan's Little Helper (2004) | Not much to recommend here. Very strange in places. | |
| The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2006) | I was glad to see something other than the usual formula (ie, they started out armed) but it was just more of the same really. Nothing much new. | |
| The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004) | This was a decent film, didn't really know much about Peter Sellers, I'd imagined him a lot more emotionally stable. I'd like to read something authored by him. | |
| The One (2001) | Seen this quite a while ago, I love the idea, similar to Highlander. Some of the fight scenes are pretty amazing still (puching the guy into the air then jumping up and kicking him back down). | |
| February 2008 | ||
| Captivity (2007) | This wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. | |
| Casino Royale (2006) | Felt like watching this again one evening. Decent film. | |
| Lady Vengeance (2005) | Excellent film. Piece of art. | |
| Monster-in-Law (2005) | Adding this a while after I saw it (I'd forgotten I'd seen it until a trailer prompted me). It was okay. | |
| Next (2007) | I liked this movie. It was a cool ability he had. | |
| Pan's Labyrinth (2006) | I like this. Quite surreal, and more brutal than I expected. Need to look for more by this director/writer. | |
| Rescue Dawn (2006) | Interesting film. | |
| Rounders (1988) | Wanted to see this for a while. It was okay. | |
| School for Scoundrels (2006) | This was a pretty decent film, one or two scenes had me laughing for a while ("I've got two girls back home that both think I'm Moby"). Both Heder and Thornton were very good. | |
| Stardust (2007) | I liked this. | |
| The Abyss (1989) | I'd seen this a long time ago and decided to watch it after channel hopping, missed the first 20 minutes or so. It's a decent film. I wanted to see first contact in more detail though. | |
| Urban Justice (2007) | Meh. Better than some of his other recent stuff. | |
| January 2008 | ||
| Black Snake Moan (2006) | Been meaning to watch this for a while, it was a decent movie. All the actors were superb, Ricci was pretty cute too :-) 2008-01-27. | |
| Free Enterprise (1998) | Fun geeky movie. 2008-01-10. | |
| Godsend (2004) | This was on TV, didn't like this much. Made little sense. 2008-01-03. | |
| Halloween (2007) | Pretty decent take on the franchise. 2008-01-13. | |
| Hollow Man 2 (2002) | Didn't even know this existed. It wasn't very good. Christian Slater as the invisible man amounted to essentially a cameo, and he didn't look very good either.. Hardly any 'invisible man' stuff.. 2008-01-14. | |
| I Am Legend (2007) | Was bitterly disappointed with this as I'm familiar with the novel - where was the whole 'I Am Legend' plot? | |
| Kate & Leopold (2001) | I enjoyed this. 2008-01-06. | |
| Popcorn (1991) | Run of the mill. 2008-01-12. | |
| Popcorn (2007) | This was alright. 2008-01-13. | |
| Prom Night 3 (1990) | Wacky tounge-in-cheek horror. Watched this while I was playing WoW. It was a fun trashy horror. 2008-01-07. | |
| Prom Night 4 (1992) | Pretty rubbish installment. 2008-01-07. | |
| Shoot 'em Up (2007) | Wow, what mince. Some good fight scenes, but the humour was totally lost on me. 2008-01-14. | |
| Snoop Dog's Hood of Horror (2006) | I expected a lot less from this. Was decent though. | |
| Starcrash (1979) | Wow, what absolute mega cheese. This is definitely one to remember for a cheesy movie night. So many classic lines.. visiting a snowy, ice planet: "At night, the temperatures drop thousands of degrees", superb :-) 2008-01-09. | |
| Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2007) | This was a decent kids film, fair homage to the original series. 2008-01-09. | |
| The Breed (2001) | Low budget, wasn't great by any means. Watchable though. 2008-01-03. | |
| The Haunted (1995) | Watched this thinking this was the 1991 film but the listing on ITV2 turned out wrong. Somebody on imdb described this movie as "less fun than watering my lawn with a teaspoon" but it wasn't that bad. Kate Beckinsale completely blew me away - as the protagonist's dedicates his book: "audaciously charming", and gorgeous as well :-) 2008-01-06. | |
| The Haunting (1963) | Was disappointed with this. Have been meaning to watch it for a long time and it came on TCM. Great beginning with them sipping Martini's in the dining room before 'the experiment' then disintegrates to "all-in-the-mind" drivel for the rest of the movie. Might have been good in the 60s but nothing I haven't seen numerous times before. 2008-01-04. | |
| The Notebook (2004) | I liked this movie. | |
| The Reaping (2007) | Meh. | |
| War (2007) | Meh. 2008-01-14. | |
| December 2007 | ||
| Battlespace (2007) | Bit weird, kept my attention. | |
| Bug (2007) | Interesting. 2007-12-01. | |
| Dead End (2003) | Interesting movie, could have been better. 2007-12-01. | |
| Good Luck Chuck (2007) | Okay romantic comedy. The scene after the credits was hilarious. | |
| Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005) | Meh, Lance was good, the rest not so much. | |
| Liquid Sky (1993) | Definitely one of the weirdest films I've seen in a while. | |
| Man of the Year (2007) | I liked this. 2007-12-15. | |
| Pirates of Ghost Island (2007) | Wow, what tripe. | |
| Planetfall (2005) | Dire. | |
| Poison Ivy (1992) | Meh, watched it on Film Four. Drew was cute, seen this all before though. 2007-12-01. | |
| Road to Perdition (2002) | This was okay. 2007-12-21. | |
| Rocky Horror Show (1975) | Hadn't actually seen this all the way through. Was entertaining. 2007-12-31. | |
| Sicko (2007) | Not bad. | |
| Stardust (2007) | Not bad. 2007-12-01. | |
| Student Bodies (1981) | Ocassionally boring, but some classic moments. | |
| The Lathe of Heaven (1980) | Interesting movie. | |
| The Tripper (2006) | Meh. Interesting to see Jay. | |
| Urban Justice (2007) | Lots of gun slapping nonsense, enjoyed it :-p | |
| Wild Hogs (2007) | I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, was quite entertaining. Watched it with my family on Christmas day. 2007-12-25. | |
| November 2007 | ||
| 12:01 PM (1993) | I enjoyed this film, similar to Groundhog Day, some interesting ideas. 2007-11-24. | |
| Absolon (2006) | Run of the mill B-movie. Kelly Brock was some nice eye candy and I liked the girls hair but the rest was a bit of a joke.. Christopher Lambert's accent gets weirder as time goes on. Also, every time Lambert fired a gun he flinched, cracked me up :-) | |
| Bad Santa (2003) | I enjoyed this movie, some quite risque dialog with 'The Kid', was fun. 2007-11-25. | |
| Battlestar Galactica: Razor (2007) | Average prequel movie, didn't really add (anything at all actually) to the ethos or current characters in my opinion. 2007-11-26. | |
| Camp Daze (2006) | aka Camp Slaughter. I wanted to like this film, but it just had too much wrong with it. Acting was terrible, killer wasn't frightening, dialog was laughable, little eye candy, Kyle XY was distracting me with that weird sing-song voice of his. I loved the idea though, 80s timewarp-groundhog-day-Friday-the-13th type thing was a great idea. Just wish they'd done more with it. The scene with the guy tied up behind the door was good and deserves a mention though. | |
| Cashback (2006) | Great and beautiful film. Some very artistic scene changes as well. 2007-11-24. | |
| Damnation Alley (1977) | This was shown as part of an episode of "Job Bob's Last Call: Monstervision", kinda like a MST3K thing. Interesting character. Movie was 'meh', 70s apocalyptic trash. 2007-11-2. | |
| Dark Ride (2006) | Mediocre. As usual, characters never ran for the exit or picked up their cell phone. 2007-11-04. | |
| Delta Farce (2007) | Rubbish. 2007-11-29. | |
| Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) | Watched this a while ago, good film. | |
| Fracture (2007) | I liked this film, the lawyer's southern accent was a little off putting, but Hopkins, as always, was superb. 2007-11-03. | |
| Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) | Not bad, it's been so long since I read the book but it still kinda ruined the movie for me (in the obvious I know what was going to happen sorta way, but I also seem to remember half the dialog too..). 2007-11-27. | |
| Hatchet (2006) | Was really disappointed with this after seeing the tagline "It's not a remake. It's not a sequel. And it's not based on a Japanese one." and thinking that was cool. Pretty rubbish movie though, had some interesting scenes, but the whole thing together was a bit of a mess, plus the acting from the guys at the beginning is terrible. It took me four sittings to watch it all. 2007-11-26. | |
| Howard the Duck (1986) | Wow, what tripe. | |
| I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry (2007) | I didn't like the first half of this movie at all, but it started to grow on me toward the end. 2007-11-25. | |
| Ice Planet (2001) | I was playing WoW while watching this.. maybe that's why I had no idea what was going on, but I doubt it... 2007-11-29. | |
| Illegal Aliens (2007) | Easily one of the worst films I've seen, ever. This is also the first time I've ever really seen the late Anna Nicole Smith in anything, wow, what a mess. 2007-11-25. | |
| Knocked Up (2007) | Absolutely superb, dialogue worthy of Kevin Smith and great character acting from the team of guys. Plus a very sexy Katherine Heigl. Planning to lookout for more from Judd Apatow. 2007-11-04. | |
| Lady Death (2004) | Meh, sexy character though. | |
| Merlin (1988) | This was okay, could have been better - I would liked to have seen a bit more of Merlin's abilities. 2007-11-27. | |
| Mr Bean's Holiday (2007) | Average Mr. Bean family movie. 2007-11-26. | |
| Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959) | 01/11/07 | |
| Plane Dead (2007) | aka Flight of the Living Dead. This was okay, I expected a lot worse. 2007-11-24. | |
| Serial Mom (1994) | Excellent campy movie. 2007-11-28. | |
| Shrooms (2007) | This was utterly dire. I fell asleep during this and had to rewatch the second half to find my place. I hate this style of movies, it's done far too often: the whole thing is shown in flashbacks or 'visions' and you can never tell what's real. Plus it ended exactly who I predicted, as it generally does with this type of movie. Also, it had that overly used 'moving dead fast in a jumpy fashion' effect from The Ring. Definitely in my top ten worse films for this year. | |
| Slumber Party Massacre (1982) | I was very surprised, this movie was actually ok. 2007-11-29. | |
| Slumber Party Massacre (1982) | This was by no means a good movie, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. 2007-11-29. | |
| Superbad (2007) | Was disappointed with this after watching Knocked Up. The dialog was kinda interesting between the main characters and I liked the police officers, though they seemed a little ripped off from State Troopers. Overall the movie just didn't grab me. I didn't care about them getting laid or not, so the whole film was pretty pointless. Also, what was with all the homoerotic tension? | |
| Terminal Invasion (2002) | Good effort for a TV movie, Bruce was great as usual. | |
| The Guyver (1991) | Awful, 90 minutes of guys in big foam suits whacking each other. 2007-11-25. | |
| The Hoax (2006) | This was alright. I knew nothing about Howard Hughes until I watched this. Interesting guy. 2007-10-05. | |
| The Invisible Boy (1957) | Wow, madness, I'm sure I wrote about this movie before but it seems to have disappeared. Geez, what was this whole thing about? Definitely one to watch drunk with friends though.. The whole movie seems like it was pieced together from a couple of seperate story lines.. | |
| The Lives of Others (2006) | Superb film. | |
| The Man From Earth (2007) | Wow, one of the best films I've seen. I like the dialog, want to see more movies like this. | |
| The Time Shifters (1999) | Mildly entertaining TV movie. I like the idea of the time disaster tourists. 2007-11-25. | |
| Warlock (1989) | Excellent little 80s horror flick. Underrated. 2007-11-21. | |
| Warlock 2 (1990) | Not as good as the first but definitely still a decent movie. 2007-11-22. | |
| October 2007 | ||
| 1408 (2007) | Not bad. 2007-10-20. | |
| 25th Hour (2002) | Not bad. 2007-10-28. | |
| Blood & Chocolate (2007) | Meh, was okay. The transformation was a little strange. 2007-10-06. | |
| Boyz N The Hood (1991) | This was okay. I thought it was strange the dialogue spoken by the characters (and some of the movie, I think, was set circa 1983) seemed almost unchanged from recent similar movies. 2007-10-02. | |
| Breach (2007) | This was okay. 2007-10-16. | |
| Death Proof (2007) | I watched the second part of the Tarantino double-bill. I quite liked the story and Kurt's character but there was far too much dialogue, it felt like Tarantino was just trying too hard. The film could have been half the length. 2007-10-17. | |
| Deepstar Six (1989) | Run of the mill undersea monster movie. Deep Rising wasn't a great movie but it was far superior to this. 2007-10-20. | |
| Disturbia (2007) | This was midly entertaining, nowhere near as good as Rear Window, which it is obviously a play on. A majority of the dialogue sounded very forced and unnatural as well.. 2007-10-03. | |
| Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood (1996) | Meh. Good thing I'd just seen Boys in the Hood or I'd miss half of the jokes. | |
| Dr. Strange: Sorcerer Supreme (2007) | Wasn't quite sure what to expect of this. It was like watching a feature length Final Fantasy fight. Not sure if that is Dr. Strange's comic book history - I doubt it - he became the world's most powerful sorcerer after what looked like spending a month in Tibet. 2007-10-04. | |
| Elektra (2005) | This could have been better, it wasn't as bad as I'd been led to believe though. I'm not a big Jennifer Garner fan, though she did look nice in the outfit. 2007-10-09. | |
| Enemy Mine (1985) | This was okay. Very similar to a plot from a Star Trek episode though (and it didn't add much more to that story despite being feature length). 2007-10-15. | |
| Evan Almighty (2007) | Not as humorous as the previous one, it could have been worse though. | |
| Fallen (1998) | I quite liked this. 2007-10-20. | |
| Fido (2007) | I knew I'd like this movie after seeing the introduction in the style of a 1950s government education video about recovering after the Zombie Wars. Some great lines in the movie - "I know you're not supposed to have a handgun until you're twelve, but these always come in handy", "I'm pregnant baby! Oh, darling, I just don't think I can afford another funeral on my salary..". You gotta love a woman that can still look as sexy as Trinity pregnant in a 1950s housewife role. Billy Connolly also was good in this movie. Great facial expressions for a zombie :-) 2007-10-25. | |
| Fist of Legend (1994) | Not bad, I watched an English dub on UK TV Gold, wish I'd seen the original Chinese. 2007-10-22. | |
| Friday the 13th Part 1 (1980) | I call myself a horror fan and I'm not even sure if I've seen this before. If I have, I must have been very young. Interesting to see. 2007-10-19. | |
| Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) | Same point I said for the first part. Think I'll end up doing a Friday the 13th marathon this weekend. 2007-10-19. | |
| Game Over: Kasparov and the Machine (2003) | Interesting. 2007-10-31. | |
| Kenny (2006) | Superb film. Talented family. Great character. 2007-10-14. | |
| Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1995) | I liked the title. I wanted to see some decent, scary clowns - like Stephen King's IT. These clowns were rubbish though. The film was a waste of time. 2007-10-19. | |
| Live Free Die Hard (2007) | As some other people have said, it wasn't really a John McLean Die Hard movie, more like John McLean is James Bond for an evening. I enjoyed the movie though. Sexy Asian femme fatale and Kevin Smith as a hacker, excellent. 2007-10-07. | |
| Mr Brooks (2007) | Good film, watched it with Vikki. Loved the main character. | |
| Notes on a Scandal (2006) | Better than I expected, Judi Dench was excellent in it. 2007-10-29. | |
| Ocean's 13 (2006) | This was ok. 2007-10-26. | |
| Oldboy (2003) | I liked this, interesting movie. It's been compared to the Count of Monte Cristo, I should read this. 2007-10-24. | |
| Party Monster (2003) | Fascinating to see McCulkin and Green in those roles. I quite like the characters. Interestin movie. 2007-10-09. | |
| Planet Terror (2007) | The first part of the Grindhouse double feature. Wow, worst zombie film I've seen this decade. What rubbish. Rose McGowan with the leg was hilarious though. 2007-10-24. | |
| Puppet Master (1989) | Meh. 2007-10-20. | |
| Puzzlehead (2005) | Fascinating movie, and a little disturbing. 2007-10-06. | |
| Repo Man (1984) | Had wanted to see this for a while. 'Twas okay. 2007-10-01. | |
| Resident Evil:Extinction (2007) | Decent action/zombie movie, at least it could have been a lot worse. Mila is looking amazing as always (plus there were more than one, woo!). 2007-10-23. | |
| Skinwalkers (2007) | Hadn't heard of this, but it was mentioned in comparison to Blood & Chocolate. It was okay. Why can't we, in 2007, make a decent looking werewolf? 2007-10-06. | |
| Terrifying Girls' High School: Lynch Law Classroom (1973) | I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but I quite enjoyed it. 2007-10-15. | |
| The Darwin Awards (2006) | I liked this. 2007-10-04. | |
| The Last Mimzy (2007) | I wasn't really expecting such a sci-fi story in what I assumed was a kids fantasy. It was a decent movie. 2007-10-18. | |
| The Number 23 (2007) | Superb film. Jim Carrey was excellent. These types of movies disturb me a little. It reminded my a little of K-Pax. 2007-10-03. | |
| The War Game (1966) | BBC docu-drama. Interesting to watch, if a little 'over-shocking, inaccurate and biased'. It was actually quite funny watching the horrific acting of the families and housewives. They all reminded me of the drag/female characters from Monty Python. 2007-10-17. | |
| Vacany (2007) | Meh. The characters did plenty that I wouldn't do, plus it lacked some of the elements I expect, like the 'last big scare' an' all that. | |
| Withnail & I (1986) | I'd never heard of this movie until Film4 started advertising it heavily recently. I thought it was superb, it's made me go look for other things by the author. 2007-10-05. | |
| September 2007 | ||
| 28 Weeks Later (2007) | Was looking forward to this movie for a while but didn't get around to watching it until now. I enjoyed it. I thought there were a few great moments that really set the scene (like the train ride in.. "The US Army cares about your safety"). I liked the nightscope scene in the subway, though I wished they'd stretched that out - I thought a lot could have been done with it (like the guy crossing the field of vision in the background, very eerie). Anyway, good zombie film (but unusual for a zombie film in that they move so quickly), though it didn't have the 'hopeless' atmosphere of the first film. 2007-09-11. | |
| Above The Law (1988) | Part of my effort to work my way through Steven Segal's movies. This was his 'big break' movie. I was surprised to see how thin his hair was, it seems to have got thicker with age. | |
| Deathwatch (2002) | This was okay, it didn't capture my attention all that much though. 2007-09-01. | |
| Dot the I (2003) | This was a really good movie, didn't expect it to turn out the way it did at all. 2007-09-08. | |
| Election (2005) | Pretty good insight into the Triads. Watched on FilmFour, 2007-09-24. | |
| Gayniggers From Outer Space (1992) | Crazy short film. 2007-09-18. | |
| George Lucas In Love (2007) | ||
| I Heart Huckabees (2004) | Saw this on FilmFour earlier in the month, I think. Just noticed it was missing from my list. It was a good film. I liked it. | |
| Magnum Force (1973) | Watched on FilmFour, not bad. 2007-09-24. | |
| Natural Born Killers (1994) | Watched this in two parts. I'd seen it before, 'twas a good movie, very cinematic. I liked the character played by Tommy Lee Jones. 2007-09-08. | |
| s1mone (2002) | This was an okay movie. 2007-09-02. | |
| Saved! (2004) | Some great deadpan lines from Culkin in this movie. "Good Christian girls" are scary. 2007-09-17. | |
| Screamers (1995) | Based on the Philip K Dick short story Second Variety. It was an okay film, I'd seen it at least twice before but didn't realise. 2007-09-05. | |
| Shadow of the Vampire (2000) | I'd been meaning to see this for a while, it was okay. Kind of how I expected. 2007-09-21. | |
| Tamara (2005) | Utterly dire, but I expected as much. 2007-09-18. | |
| The Business (2005) | Not bad. 2007-09-08. | |
| The Honey Pot (1967) | Watched this while I was feeling crappy with flu. It had Rex Harrison in it, and some really zany characters. It was an enjoyable movie. 2007-09-04. | |
| The Survivors (1983) | Not what I was expecting but it was a decent movie. 207-09-15. | |
| What Planet Are You From? (2000) | Okay movie, the main character always strikes me as being somewhat strange looking. 2007-09-30. | |
| August 2007 | ||
| A Clockwork Orange (1971) | Been meaning to get around to watch this for ages. Interesting movie. 2007-08-03. | |
| Bad Boys (1995) | First time I'd seen this all the way through. It was okay. 2007-08-08. | |
| Bad Taste (1987) | I expected a lot more form this movie. 2007-08-18. | |
| Calvaire (2004) | Wasn't too bad a film, reminded me a bit of Funny Games. I find these types of horrors (the trapped, and can't fight back type) the most disturbing. The film itself was quite strange, and I think that bar scene will stay in my head for a long time. It kinda bugged me that the young strong looking protagonist couldn't just overpower the old guy and walk out but I guess there were quite a few psychological elements to his ordeal as well... 2007-08-20. | |
| Catch Me If You Can (2002) | I've always wanted to see this and finally got around to it today. It was a good movie, I like the character but kinda wish it was another actor though. 2007-08-19. | |
| Devil's Den (2006) | Wasn't much of a story here, reminded me a bit of Dusk 'til Dawn. 2007-08-19. | |
| K-Pax (2001) | Had wanted to watch this for a while. It was on Film Four. I enjoyed the movie - it's one that made me think a little (and, cheesey as it sounds, appreciate life). 2007-08-30. | |
| Kung Pow! Enter The Fist (2002) | Not quite sure what I thought of this movie. There were some scenes, especially in the first half hour that made my laugh out loud. Also, the superimposition of new footage with old worked well. 2007-08-19. | |
| My First Mister (2004) | Watched it on FilmFour. I enjoyed this movie. I liked the two characters a lot. Actually, now that I think about it a little more, it was a very beautiful movie. 2007-08-03. | |
| Napoleon Dynamite (2004) | Seen this before, great movie. Missed the first thirty minutes but watched it on FilmFour after I stumbled across it channel flicking. 2007-08-03. | |
| Personal Services (1987) | This was fascinating. Enjoyed the movie, some great characters. 2007-08-09. | |
| Schindler's List (1993) | Hadn't really seen this properly before. I watched on it my projector. Superb film. 2007-08-01. | |
| The Benchwamers (2006) | Bit of a kids movie, but wasn't too bad. 2007-08-22. | |
| The Frighteners (1996) | This wasn't bad, watched it on Sci-fi. 2007-08-02. | |
| The Sender (1998) | Bit of a slow action movie (lots of unnecessary explosions). Some interesting ideas and a cute female alien lead though. Was on Sci-fi after The Frighteners. 2007-08-02. | |
| The Shawshank Redemption (1994) | Been meaning to get around to watching this. I'd only seen parts really. It was great film. 2007-08-06. | |
| Transformers (2007) | Went to see this in the cinema. I was a little disappointed, the effects were great but the characters were cliches, the voices of the Transformers were the same. Too much of a kids film for my liking. 2007-08-22. | |
| July 2007 | ||
| Cabin Fever (2002) | I forced myself to sit through this when it was on TV. 2007-07-09. | |
| Dirty Harry (1971) | Decent movie. A few scenes were familiar but I don't think I'd seen this before. 2007-07-17. | |
| Donnie Darko (2001) | First time I've had a chance to sit down and watch this movie properly. It was a good movie. 2007-07-23. | |
| Dr. Who and the Daleks (1961) | As one imdb reviewer put it "more like Dr. Who and the camp hairdressers push over all the Daleks". Cheese. 2007-07-20. | |
| Epic Movie (2007) | I heard this was terrible, but I'd thought the trailer looked good. It was terrible, really terrible. However, the two girls were almost cute enough to make up for it. 2007-07-15. | |
| Frankenstein Unbound (1990) | I've wanted to see this for a while, ever since I discovered it actually existed (and wasn't a movie I imagined from my childhood). It could have been a lot worse, I liked the car. 2007-07-06. | |
| Men in Black II (2002) | Thought I'd already seen this movie but I hadn't. It was pretty crap. Seemed a lot more 'forced' than the original. 2007-07-11. | |
| Robocop (1987) | Came back from the pub late one night in the mood to watch this. Great movie. I watched it again the next day while I was working just to heard the director's commentary. 2007-07-30. | |
| Shooter (2007) | I enjoyed this. Mark Wahlberg was a pretty decent action hero. 2007-07-18. | |
| Terminator (1984) | Was just planning to watch a few scenes to try out my new projector but ended up watching the whole movie. I love that movie. 2007-07-14. | |
| The Hustler (1961) | One of the "Movies to see before you die". Not bad. 2007-07-04. | |
| The Marsh (2006) | Watched this on-demand. Wasn't particuarly good. 2007-07-01. | |
| The Quiet Earth (1985) | I liked this movie. 2007-07-22. | |
| The Simpsons Movie (2007) | This was okay, but like Homer says at the beginning "Why am I paying to watch something when I can see it on TV for free?". 2007-07-31. | |
| Trapped (2002) | Think I'd seen this movie before, I thought it was really good. 2007-07-02. | |
| Universal Soldier III (1998) | Channel surfed to this on Sci-fi. It was utterly dire. 2007-07-08. | |
| June 2007 | ||
| Android Apocalypse (2006) | Rubbish. There was an excellent review I agree with completely on imdb, here (just noticed there isn't an easy way to link directly to a comment for a movie, bah). 2007-06-11. | |
| Black Christmas (1974) | This was pretty dire, and I wasn't happy with the ending. Margot Kidder was just as annoying to me as she would later be in the Superman movies. The girls in the sorority house look middled aged. The girl with the English(ish) accent was very cute though. Sad to say, but the remake was better, not that it was any good either. There was a hilarious moment when two guys came to the door and made this very strange laughing noise. 2007-06-11. | |
| Black Dawn (2005) | I watched the first twenty minutes of this months ago and have been putting off watching the rest 'cause it seemed awful. For some reason, when I got back from a club last night I put it on. It was dire. There was a review on imdb entitled 'Worst Stunt Double. Ever' which was very true, it read: "There was a scene in this movie, Cold is running up the hotel stairs and fighting bad guys along the way, where the stunt double had different color hair, different color suit, wasn't as tall as Seagal, and they showed the his face in the scene, and he looked nothing like Seagal. I thought, "Who is this?" Then I realized it was supposed to be Cold. You mean, Steve isn't doing his own fighting scenes? Huh?". 2007-06-15. | |
| C.H.U.D. (1984) | I wasn't expecting much from this at all, but it was a fun movie. Some great scenes too. 2007-06-10. | |
| Cloak & Dagger (1984) | I liked this, it was a good 80s kid movie. Wish I'd seen it when I was younger. I liked Dabney Coleman in this a lot. 2007-06-10. | |
| Colors (1988) | This was alright. Nothing special. Never understood why so many people seem to despise Sean Penn until I'd seen this movie. 2007-06-18. | |
| Galaxina (1980) | Wow this was utterly awful. Would have been hilarious if I'd watched it drunk with a bunch of mates though. Some crazy, crazy scenes. Like that 'party' - looked like the characters from a Grease revival crossbred with the YMCA. They were worshipping "Har Lee, David's Son", a motorcycle outlaw who had founded their town/cult. Madness. Galaxina was kinda cute in a strange way. She defeated the evil robot guy by walking around him twice, thus making him so dizzy he fell over. 2007-06-07. | |
| Magic (1978) | I'm adding this a few months after watching it, I think it was around this month - I remember watching it somewhere other than home.. Can't quite remember where though.. It's bugging me.. | |
| Premonition (2007) | This wasn't bad. 2007-06-03. | |
| Pulse (2006) | What a pile of crap. The first 10 minutes seemed kinda promising but it just got worse and worse from there. It all made so little sense. Gotta love HollywoodOS though. 2007-06-14. | |
| Slaughterhouse Five (1972) | Pretty true to the novel. Wasn't a bad movie. 2007-06-12. | |
| Solarbabies (1986) | This was cheesey as hell, and not in a funny way, just in a corny-80s-kid-movie type of way. Not sure why I'd put this on my list of movies to watch. It was interesting to see a young Bruce Payne and Alexi Sayle as a bounty hunter double act though. 2007-06-10. | |
| Space Cowboys (2000) | Not a great film, but better than I expected. Reminded me a lot of Armageddon. 2007-06-13. | |
| Sunshine (2007) | What a pile of shit. Event Horizon meets Red Planet but not even a tenth as good as either movie. Was there any science in this? 2007-06-14. | |
| The Devil's Own (1997) | Could have been worse. 2007-06-06. | |
| The Illusionist (2006) | Decent movie. 2007-06-23. | |
| The King (2005) | I liked this. Not what I was expecting. Was on Film Four. 2007-06-07. | |
| The Perfect Score (2004) | Pretty crap movie. Roy was a fun character, and of course Scarlett Johansen was hot, especially in that Matrix parody. That was about it though. This was on late at night on Film Four. 2007-06-07. | |
| When Worlds Collide (1951) | This was a good movie. Always makes me wonder what the writers of these stories thought when man reached the moon within a decade or two. There were some interesting scenes in the movie, the Babbage-like 'differential analyzer', lots of passing out of cigarettes and some fairly decent special effects, for the time. 2007-06-13. | |
| Y tu mamá también (2001) | Wow, absolutely superb film. 2007-06-12. | |
| May 2007 | ||
| Better Off Dead (1985) | This was an alright movie, very surreal, or maybe just strange. 2007-05-03. | |
| Blades of Glory (2007) | This was good. I've heard it referred to as "one joke stretched to the length of a movie", which is kinda true. Still enjoyable though. 2007-05-28. | |
| Blood Diamond (2006) | Watched this with Vikki, it was decent. 2007-05-07. | |
| Caché (2005) | aka Hidden. This was a good movie. I wasn't very happy with the ending but I guess it was an important idea behind the movie. It had a few interesting effects, HD cameras were obvious too. 2007-05-20. | |
| Cherry 2000 (1987) | I think I remember seeing this a long time ago. It was a decent geeky movie, lot of good one liners. Strange, or maybe sad, to think the writers imagined we'd have realistic intelligent androids (and have time to get tired of them and call them old fashioned) within 30 years. 2007-05-03. | |
| Children of the Damned (1963) | I'd wanted to see this for ages, and noticed it was on sci-fi this evening. It was an okay movie. I think I preferred the original however. The dialogue between the psychologist and geneticist was fabulous :-) 2007-05-24. | |
| Déjà Vu (2006) | This was ok. 2007-05-22. | |
| Disturbing Behaviour (1998) | Katie Holmes was sorta cute in this, didn't have much else going for it though. Watched it on BBC1, 2007-05-10. | |
| Dungeons & Dragons 2 (2005) | Could have been worse. Was on late at night on ITV2. The original had more character. 2007-05-09. | |
| Employee of the Month (2006) | This was pretty dire. Jessica Simpson looked hot in it though. 2007-05-19. | |
| Evil Never Dies (2003) | TV movie I stumbled upon while channel surfing. It was pretty dire. Only ended up paying half my attention while I was stuck in an wikinfite loop. 2007-05-26. | |
| Freddy vs Jason (2003) | This was good fun. I'd thought before about seeing them fight, didn't realise this had been made. Could have been so much worse. I heard the talked to Bruce Campbell about having Ash in a sequel, that would have rocked. 2007-05-20. | |
| Ghost Ship (2002) | I saw this a while ago, but either it was before 2005 or I forgot to list it. It's a pretty decent movie, it was on ITV2. Missed the first twenty minutes of the movie, but I remember it well from before. It was a great special effect and introduction. 2007-05-15. | |
| Highlander (1986) | Found this when channel sufing late at night, it was on ITV4, it's been so long since I'd seen it I decided to watch it again. Great movie. I'm looking for the sequels, which I'm not sure I've ever seen. 2007-05-02. | |
| Hoboken Hollow (2005) | Run of the mill. Could have been a lot worse though. 2007-05-19. | |
| MST3K: Hobgoblins (1988) | Watched this while I was working and couldn't help laughing out loud again. There are some absolutely classic scenes in this movie, and watching Crow trying to leave the cinema is hilarious. The movie makes so little sense it's a perfect candidate for so bad-its-good. I'm afraid to say, I think I actually watched this a long time ago without the benefit of the MST3K team, dire. 2007-05-02. | |
| MST3K: Invasion of the Neptune Men (1961) | Not bad. Though the did only succeed in stoping one ship using all their missiles, plus they cheated by miraculously already having that 'electron shield'. 2007-05-07. | |
| MST3K: Laserblast (1978) | Strange. | |
| MST3K: The Cave Dwellers (1984) | Did he just run behind that tree and construct a hangglider from rudimentary forest materials?. 2007-05-17. | |
| MST3K: The Movie (1995) | This was actually This Island Earth (1955) in disguise. Caught myself laughing out loud a few times to this. *hands stick to the metal rails* "Don't worry about those handrails. They're magnetised." "Yeah, if your hands were made of metal that'd mean something." Excellent. 2007-05-01. | |
| MST3K: The Pod People (1983) | Another MST3K movie, one of their best. 2007-05-01. | |
| MST3K: The Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy (1957) | Watched this with Pickle and Sandy, it was pretty good but then we'd had quite a few beers :-) Didn't see a robot until the last few minutes if I remember correctly.. 2007-05-05. | |
| MST3K: Werewolf (1996) | MST3K, watched it while I was working. Meh, 'twas okay. It was the most recent film ever shown on MST3K. 2007-05-17. | |
| Some Voices (2000) | This is the third Daniel Craig movie I've seen. He looks very different from the Bond I know. The film was described, on Film4, as a "lighthearted drama" but it was anything but. Films about mental illness are the most disturbing to me by far. 2007-05-28. | |
| South West 9 (2001) | This was pretty good. I liked the style. What happened to Mitch was a little scary. 2007-05-19. | |
| Spiderman 3 (2007) | Watched this with Kim in the UGC. Didn't like it very much. Lots of crying and the bad guys were pretty weak. Kirsten Dunst, meh. 2007-05-09. | |
| The Eye (2002) | Chinese horror movie. I wasn't paying too much attention to this, it was an okay movie, a little slow. It didn't really have anything that gripped me.. She could see 'shadows' preparing to collect souls (so could forsee deaths), but the main scares in the horror involved her seeing ghosts, but none of them tried to hurt her, so there wasn't much to worry about.. There was a good scene where, because she had been blind almost all her life, she finally realises the face she has been seeing in the mirror isn't her reflection. 2007-05-26. | |
| The Fountain (2006) | Fascinating movie. 2007-05-23. | |
| The Gamers (2002) | This is a very low budget Dead Gentlemen's Production. It cracked me up. Gotta know a bit about live action RPGs to appreciate the movie though. 2007-05-28. | |
| The Man With The Screaming Brain (2005) | Hadn't heard of this Bruce Campbell movie before, was looking forward to it but ended up disappointed. 2007-05-31. | |
| The Wicker Man (2006) | This was ok. Nothing special. I liked the ending to an extent, it wasn't what I expected, which was good. Watched it with Vikki on demand. 2007-05-13. | |
| Twisted (2004) | Hadn't heard of this. Discovered it channel flicking late at night. It was a decent movie. 2007-05-16. | |
| April 2007 | ||
| Chopping Mall (1987) | Cheesetastic rubbish. 2007-04-11. | |
| Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970) | This sounded great, and the movie was fairly good, however I was expecting more of an ending. Interestingly I'd never heard of this movie before. For a while I thought the machine was playing the humans against each other, but in an effort to promote unity and world peace, or the complete opposite, destruction, but no, it was something inbetween; peace in slavery... Fascinating watching the old hardware and how unsurprised the programmers are that their software becomes inexplicably sentient. 2007-04-26. | |
| Delicatessen (1991) | Pretty decent surreal black comedy, not a patch on Amelie though. 2007-04-21. | |
| Election (1999) | This wasn't so bad, I think I'd seen it before. I quite like Matthew Broderick in this film. 2007-04-14. | |
| Flushed Away (2006) | Decent family film. I liked the 'high-five' scene right near the end :-) 2007-04-16. | |
| Goodbye Bafana (2007) | This was a good film, watched at a Bafta screening with Kenny in Cineworld. 2007-04-24. | |
| Hot Fuzz (2007) | Little disappointed, I was expecting a lot more from this. Didn't feel like it got started until about two thirds of the way through. 2007-04-07. | |
| Killing Mr Griffin (1997) | This wasn't great. It was an awful read on the teacher, assuming they could play him like that. Plus, the ending was a bit premature. I wanted to see what happened. Watched on Movies24. 2007-04-05. | |
| Little Miss Sunshine (2006) | Watched this with Vikki, I enjoyed it. I liked the grandpa and uncle Frank characters a lot. Not quite sure I understood the message though.. 2007-04-07. | |
| Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) | Watched this on Film4, it was alright. 2007-04-05. | |
| MST3K: Morozko (1964) | This was an MST3K movie. Aka Jack Frost. Was cheesey as hell, weird and surreal story... Think I'd seen it before, a long while ago. 2007-04-30. | |
| Night of the Living Dead (1990) | This was alright, could have been better though. I thought I'd already seen all the [remakes] of these films but must have missed this one out. 2007-04-01. | |
| Nightwatch (1997) | I almost didn't watch this, thinking it was the other Russian Nightwatch (which was great but I've already seen). I'm glad I did, it was on the Sci-fi channel. I really enjoyed it. 2007-04-03. | |
| Office Space (1998) | Watched this with my family at Easter. This is one of my favourite movies. 2007-04-08. | |
| Robot Jox (1990) | This wasn't particularly good. 2007-04-12. | |
| Sublime (2007) | This was a pretty good film, a little harrowing and depressing though. 2007-04-22. | |
| Switch (1991) | Watched this on Channel 4. Would've been a better movie if the girl was actually attractive. She could have done the guy a little justice and stopped walking so pathetically in those heels.. And what was that haircut all about? I'm such a bitch. 2007-04-14. | |
| The Boys From Brazil (1978) | Not really what I was expecting, but an interesting movie nonetheless. 2007-04-24. | |
| The Brady Bunch Movie (1995) | Nothing special. 2007-04-02. | |
| The Holiday (2006) | Vikki wanted to watch this. I thought it would have been better, didn't like it much, felt very slow. 2007-04-06. | |
| The I Inside (2003) | This was not bad. Watched on sci-fi. 2007-04-03. | |
| The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human (1999) | Strange movie. Wasn't particularly entertaining just as well there was some eye candy. Was on sci-fi, 2007-04-06. | |
| The Punisher (2004) | Watched this with my family at Easter. It's an alright action movie. There are a couple of scenes I really like. 2007-04-08. | |
| The Tao of Steve (1999) | This was an excellent movie. The lead actor was great, plus I love slacker movies generally. 2007-04-29. | |
| The Wraith (1984) | Ha! What the hell was that? Awful movie. Amusingly awful though. Weird, weird characters. I didn't really have much of an idea what was going on.. The car still looked pretty futuristic after all this time though. 2007-04-10. | |
| Vampires: Los Muertos (2001) | Nothing special. 2007-04-10. | |
| March 2007 | ||
| 2001 Maniacs (2006) | Watched this on NTL's OnDemand, pretty rubbish. 2007-03-09. | |
| 300 (2007) | This was a good movie, pretty epic. Watched in Cineworld. I really like the lead, King Leonidas (played by Gerard Butler), I was trying to remember where I recognised him from, but I just found out, he played Dracula in Dracula 2000, one of my favourite actors to play Dracula. 2007-03-20. | |
| 54 (1998) | Watched this on TV, I'd seen it before, It wasn't bad, I didn't like Phillpe's performance much though. Myer's character was fascinating. 2007-03-07. | |
| Aces (2006) | This was so bad, I tracked it down in the midst of my poker bug. The acting was as awful as the script was boring. There were some hilarious deadpan lines though: "Have fun in the desert getting raped and killed... bitch" 2007-03-26. | |
| Along Came Polly (2004) | This was pretty dire. I don't reallly like Jennifer Aniston much either. 2007-03-21. | |
| Blithe Spirit (1945) | This was on Film Four and I noticed it had Rex Harrison in it, so I had to watch. Quite enjoyed it, I loved the dialogue. 2007-03-17. | |
| Cold Mountain (2002) | Not too bad. A little slow. Watched it on BBC1. 2007-03-04. | |
| Cube (1997) | Haven't seen this for a while. I like the movie. Just realised Rodney from Stargate Atlantis is in this. 2007-03-24. | |
| Darkman (1990) | This was alright, could have been a lot worse, I didn't really see Neeson as dark character though. He's too Rob Royish to me.. 2007-03-18. | |
| Disappearance (2002) | TV movie, standard in-the-desert-hills-have-eyes type movie. It was okay though, could have been a lot worse. Was on Sci-fi channel. 2007-03-25. | |
| East is East (1999) | Watched this on Film Four, think I'd seen it before, but quite a while ago. It's a good film, strange mix of comedy and seriousness. 2007-03-11. | |
| Ghost Dog (1999) | This was on Film Four, I've been meaning to watch it for a while. It was a good movie, not quite what I was expecting, but interesting nonetheless. 2007-03-13. | |
| Ghosts of Mars (2001) | This movie had very little going for it. I wasn't sure if I'd seen it already, watched it on Film Four. Seemed very battle-by-numbers, disappointment from John Carpenter. 2007-03-08. | |
| LA Confidential (1995) | This was on Film Four and I thought I'd better see it, I've heard the name quite a few times. It was a good movie. 2007-03-22. | |
| Narc (2002) | Lazy evening continuing to watch Film Four. This was alright. 2007-03-22. | |
| Near Dark (1987) | I'd seen the first half of this a while ago and caught up on the rest today. It's a pretty decent cult film. Noticed the brother with the ability to fly from Heroes is in this, looking quite young. 2007-03-16. | |
| Sky High (2005) | Could have been a lot worse. 2007-03-27. | |
| The Day After (1983) | This was a good movie. I'd seen it before, years ago. Very powerful scene right at the end. 2007-03-03. | |
| The Italian Job (2003) | Had been meaning to watch this and noticed it was on Film Four. There were some good heist scenes, but I thought the movie was pretty crap. The characters were very shallow, dialogue seemed contrived. 2007-03-23. | |
| Wilderness (2006) | Decent British low budget movie. I quite like the characters, the ending sort of fizzled-out though.. Watched on NTL's on demand. 2007-03-10. | |
| Wishmaster (1997) | Watched the first part of the this a month or so ago then the rest today. It's not a bad movie, I like some of the deaths, quite inventive. 2007-03-15. | |
| You, Me and Dupree (2006) | Watched this on NTL's OnDemand, pretty rubbish. 2007-03-09. | |
| Zoom (2006) | This was awful. 2007-03-29. | |
| February 2007 | ||
| A Boy And His Dog (1975) | I was expecting a bit more from this... The interaction between the dog and boy was a bit stale.. Couldn't really find a plot either.. Interesting ending. 2007-02-16. | |
| Amazon Women on the Moon (1987) | aka Kentucky Fried Sequel. I've seen the previous movie, which was interesting. This was more of the same.. Watched it in the background while playing a game. I liked the sketch with the device the woman used to run background checks on potential dates - we have the technology for that.. I wonder.. 2007-02-16. | |
| Becoming Jane (2007) | I liked this. Watched it at a BAFTA screening with the director, producer and writer doing Q&A. Interesting. 2007-02-13. | |
| Below (2002) | Not bad, watched with Vik, 2007-02-04. | |
| Black Christmas (2005) | This was rubbish. Watched with Vikki, 2007-02-07. | |
| Child's Play 3 (1991) | This was on TV, wasn't bad, not as bad as the more recent Child's Play movies. 2007-02-24. | |
| Children of Men (2006) | This was pretty good. 2007-02-11. | |
| Curse of the Golden Flower (2006) | This was a beautiful and impressive movie. I knew what to expect before seeing it, but still found it a little tedious - lots of ceremony and ritual. Watched an early screening at the BAFTA evening, 2007-02-20. | |
| Death Race 2000 (1975) | This was great. Foxy navigator. I've never heard of it before. Made me want to play Carmageddon again. 2007-02-01. | |
| Death Wish (1974) | This was a good lads movie. I'd like to see more Charles Bronson, and the sequels. I really liked The Vigilante character, I thought he'd fall in the one-liner trap or something like that, but no.. it was cold, emotionless, nice. I also liked how the police handled it. 2007-02-03. | |
| Domestic Disturbance (2001) | This was alright, watched it on Film Four with Vik, 2007-02-04. | |
| Evil Aliens (2005) | I really enjoyed this. The combine harvester scene was hilarious. It also had Holly in a minor part at the beginning, that caught my attention. There were a few interesting ideas as well.. the UFOs seemed to be draining energy from standing stones in the Welsh fields which seemed very Stargatesque. 2007-02-09. | |
| Hardware (1990) | Run of the mill cheesey sci-fi. The soundtrack was superb however. 2006-02-16. | |
| Idiocracy (2006) | This was entertaining, there were a few classic lines. 2007-02-09. | |
| Lake Placid (1999) | This was alright, watched it on Sci-fi. 2007-02-10. | |
| Mimic: Sentinel (2003) | This was on sci-fi, it wasn't particularly good. The plot was similar to Rear Window. 2007-02-10. | |
| Piranha (1978) | This was pretty dire, half watched it while I browsed the web. 2007-02-24. | |
| Sleeper (1973) | I'm never quite sure if I've ever 'got' Woody Allen movies. 2007-02-16. | |
| Split Second (1992) | Suprisingly good British sci-fi B-movie. 2007-02-03 | |
| The Dark Corner (1946) | Watched this during the day whilst I was working, it was shown on Film Four. I enjoyed it, good film noir. 2007-02-12. | |
| The Hard Word (2002) | Watched this on FilmFour, really enjoyed it. 2007-02-24. | |
| The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) | This isn't a great movie, but I like seeing the characters together. Watched it on TV while eating some takeaway. 2007-02-21. | |
| The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) | This was an interesting movie. Very surreal. Watched with Vikki, 2007-02-02. | |
| The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988) | I love this movie. I've seen it quite a few times now and I'd probably watch it again. I stumbled upon it just beginning on Trouble (the TV channel) when I was channel flicking between Child's Play and some other B-movie. It's made me want to try and track down the original Police Squad series. 2007-02-03. | |
| The Prestige (2006) | I really enjoyed this, it was a good movie. Watched with Vikki, 2007-02-07. | |
| Trapped in Space (1994) | Found this while I was channel flicking.. Think I missed the first 15 minutes or so. It was pretty awful, I was surprised it was so moral though. 2007-02-24. | |
| January 2007 | ||
| Altered States (1980) | I liked the lead character in this movie. I think I've already seen it. Not really sure I liked it all that much.. I'd like to read the book though. 2007-01-13. | |
| Babel (2006) | Saw this in the GFT with a group from meetup.com. It was an excellent film, maybe the best this year so far. 2007-01-20. | |
| Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001) | Watched this with Vikki, 2007-01-29. It was too long and didn't keep my interest much, it did have Persephone in it though :-) | |
| Demon Seed (1977) | Cheesey sci-fi. Wasn't that great, would have had a better impact if the 'robot' didn't look so easy to avoid. Interesting explanation behind the computer/brain though 'quasi-synthetic RNA based neural network' or something.. Better than the usual "powerful computer" description. 2007-01-31. | |
| Feast (2006) | At first glance (the way the characters were introduced) this film had a very stylish feel and I was looking forward to something memorable but it just didn't live up - could have been a lot better. Watched with Vikki, 2007-01-03. | |
| In The Mouth of Madness (1995) | Watched this with Vikki at some point earlier in the month. Forgot to note it down though, so I'm not sure of the exact date. The movie could have been a lot worse. Nothing memorable about it really though. Reminded me a little of Stranger Than Fiction. | |
| Orgazmo (1997) | Wacky nonsense, didn't enjoy it all that much. Was interesting to see the guys behind South Park though. 2007-01-13. | |
| Panic in Year Zero (1962) | This cracked me up. The father did everything with that hat of his on.. skinning a deer, ambushing some cars, fighting.. The music was great too, very film noir. Acting was a little comical at times, the pantomime rape scene comes to mind, but there were some good ideas - like hiding six packages each containing a weeks worth of food so it couldn't all be stolen from them at once and so they could use it to bargain for their freedom if captured. Interesting stuff. Nobody seemed particularly bothered about fallout however.. 2007-01-04. | |
| Red Dawn (1984) | I'd wanted to watch this as soon as I heard about it. I really enjoyed it, it was an interesting premise and the acting wasn't bad. Watched it with Vikki, 2007-01-02. | |
| Rottweiler (2004) | This was dire. Dogs just simply aren't scary. Plus.. 'robot dog'? What the hell? There was no sci-fi POV, no special abilities, nothing to show it was a robot at all (except some bad FX after it gets set on fire). I'm not sure I got the plot to this movie either (if there was one). Rubbish. 2007-01-06. | |
| Running Scared (2006) | Never even heard of this. Wow, it was a really good movie. Very stylish too. 2007-01-13. | |
| Snakes on a Plane (2006) | This was absolutely dire, and I normally like bad action movies, but wow, this sucked. I can't imagine why Samuel Jackson chose this.. Watched it with Vikki on 2007-01-14, but gave up 20 minutes from the end and went to bed, watched the rest the following day. | |
| The Book of Days (2003) | This movie was on Movies 24 and caught my attention 'cause Wil Wheaton was in it. It was a decent movie. First time I'd seen Wheaton in a non-Star Trek role. 2007-01-28. | |
| The Covenant (2006) | This was alright, could have been worse. Watched with Vikki, 2007-01-27. | |
| The Getaway (1972) | Watched this with Vikki on TCM, 2007-01-18. | |
| The Last King of Scotland (2006) | Watched this with Vikki in the GFT, I really enjoyed the movie. It was surprisingly funny at times. 2007-01-19. | |
| The Last Train (1999) | Watched the 6 part ITV series in one sitting whilst playing a game. Plenty of plot holes etc but I enjoyed it. 2007-01-02. | |
| The Party (1962) | This was okay. Peter Sellers was good. I really liked the house they had the party in. If money was no object, that's the house I'd have. I'd even keep the dodgy 60s wallpaper. 2007-01-06. | |
| The Science of Sleep (2006) | Another excellent film. I saw this at a BAFTA screening in Cineworld. It was very surreal, but funny and very interesting. I'd watch this again with somebody. 2007-01-23. | |
| The Wizard (1989) | I wish I'd seen this when I was younger. Good cheesey geeky 80s movie. 2007-01-02. | |
| Threads (1984) | I enjoyed this, very interesting. Afterwards I looked up a lot of the government information videos on youtube.com etc - morbidly entertaining. 2007-01-04. | |
| Trancers (1985) | This was hilarious. Cheesetastic. Tim Thomerson (as Jack Deth) is the man! Not to mention his long-second watch. 2007-01-04. | |
| Vamp (1986) | Meh. Run of the mill 80s vampire flick. 2007-01-08. | |
| December 2006 | ||
| Choses Secrèts (2002) | This was a superb movie. Watched it with Vikki, late on Christmas Eve on Film 4. 2006-12-24. | |
| Chronicles of Riddick (2004) | This wasn't all that bad, of course Pitch Black was a lot better (when he was just a good killer, now he's some sort of demigod..). Judi Dench's elemental character was very cool and also the antigravity technology that powered the ships looked very menacing, nice. 2006-12-13. | |
| Containment (2006) | My god, worst movie this month I think. The 'acting' was laughable. 2006-12-26. | |
| DOA: Dead or Alive (2006) | Semi-naked grils fighting Holly Valance - it kept my attention. Awful premise though.. 2006-12-26. | |
| Fearless (1993) | This was quite interesting. Watched with Vikki through NTL On-demand. 2006-12-17. | |
| Feast (2006) | This wasn't that great. Watched with Vikki, 2006-12-30. | |
| Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982) | I don't think I'd actually seen this before. Come to think of it I'm not really sure I can distinguish any of the Friday the 13th movies any more, I'll try and watch them again soon. This wasn't bad. Wasn't great either. Was on around 2am on the sci-fi channel. 2006-12-18. | |
| House (1986) | Vikki and I were beginning to struggle to find things to watch on Christmas Eve. The was from NTL's On Demand. It was absolutely dire, I'm sure I'd seen it years ago and thought the same too.. 2006-12-24. | |
| Hyperland (1990) | Found this on video.google.com. It was quasi-interesting in a dated-BBC-but-its-got-Douglas-Adams kinda way. Ted Nelson hasn't changed. 2006-12-15. | |
| Impostor (2002) | I don't like Gary Sinise much and the plot was like swiss cheese, kept my attention though. 2006-12-30. | |
| K-19: The Widowmaker (2002) | I enjoyed this. I liked the scenes after they attempted to repair the reactor, gruesome and scary. 2006-12-23. | |
| Let's Go to Prison (2006) | Quite a strange movie. Not great. | |
| Love At First Bite (1979) | This was awful. Was hoping for some campy fun but no. 2006-12-09. | |
| Mickey Blue Eyes (1999) | This was on Film Four, watched it with Vikki. Nothing great, kept us entertained though. 2006-12-14. | |
| Night of the Comet (1984) | I'd seen this abount a decade ago. I stumbled across it on the Sci-Fi channel and watched it with Vikki. It hasn't aged well - I remember thinking it was great. Oh well. Crap, but was interesting to see again. 2006-12-27. | |
| No Maps for These Territories (1999) | Documentary focusing on one of my favourite authors, William Gibson. Interesting. 2006-12-09. | |
| Once Bitten (1985) | Watched this with Vikki on the Sci-fi Channel. It was pretty dire. 2006-12-27. | |
| Outland (1981) | Ha, what rubbish. It was described to me as a 'western in space' so I had to see it. Plus it's got Mr Connery in it. It kept me entertained, but what was all that psudeo-sciene nonsense.. Why did people explode when exposed to space? Why did the outside of the mining colony appear to be electrified? Why did they keep prisoners in zero gravity? Why did they put the prisoners in space suits in their zeo gravity cells? Where was the eye candy never mind the plot? 2006-12-15. | |
| Perfect Blue (1998) | I must have misread something somewhere.. I was expecting cyberpunk. It was an interesting movie though. 2006-12-20. | |
| Pursuit of Happyness (2006) | Yes, the typo is intentional. This wasn't too bad. Watched with Vikki, 2006-12-30. | |
| Sex 'n' Death (1999) | Fascinating. 2006-12-27. | |
| Silent Hill (2006) | Watched this with Vikki on NTL On Demand. It was okay, could have been a lot worse. Not quite sure I understood what happened at the end. 2006-12-09. | |
| Spirited Away (2001) | I'd heard a lot about this movie - and I think I expected a bit more, but it was definitely worth seeing. Watched with Vikki, 2006-12-17. | |
| The Aristocrats (2005) | I'd been meaning to watch this for a while. Superb documentary. Watched with Vikki on TV, 2006-12-27. | |
| The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (2004) | Meh. 2006-12-26. | |
| The Sword of Xanten (2004) | This is also known as Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King and Ring of the Nibelungs - it was originally a TV series and has been edited into a movie (I watched it on Sky One over two nights). Wish I'd know that before watching it. It was pretty crap, but maybe the series as a whole might have been better. 2006-12-24. | |
| The Woodsman (2004) | This was pretty good. Watched it on Film Four. 2006-12-15. | |
| Waiting... (2006) | Watched the first half with Vikki and watched the ending a bit later. It was that sort of movie. Mildly entertaining. 2006-12-12 | |
| Weird Science (1985) | Stumbled onto this while I was channel surfing and Vikki and I decided to watch it. I really loved this film when I was younger, had such a crush on Kelly LeBrock. It hasn't aged too badly (for a cheesey 80s flick). One thing was quite interesting.. I'm pretty sure the scene (actually, just a few seconds of footage) where the big rocket bursts up through the floor of the boy's bedroom was cut from the movie. I'm not sure why. Interestingly, the footage of the house being cleaned up near the end shows the rocket descend back through the floor.. so maybe I just missed that scene at the beginning. Pretty sure I didn't though.. 2006-12-14. | |
| November 2006 | ||
| A Scanner Darkly (2006) | Interesting. I haven't read Philip K Dick's story yet though. Vikki fell asleep watching it. 2006-11-12. | |
| Borat (2006) | Went to see this with Vikki in the Showcase cinema. It wasn't really worth going to. There were some funny scenes, but the whole thing dragged on too long. It would have been better if they had made it an hour long TV feature or something - not as much money in that I guess. Interesting how big it's become - I've heard people quoting it who haven't even seen the movie yet. 2006-11-11. | |
| Casino Royale (2006) | Saw this in the cinema with Vikki and Kim. A very different Bond from what I'm use to, but I enjoyed it. 2006-11-19. | |
| Click (2006) | A good two thirds of this movie was Adam Sandler's normal rubbish. The acting from the children was terrible, Christopher Walken seemed like somebody trying to paraody Christopher Walken and the plot around the remote control 'learning' seemed nonsensical. However, for me, it seemed to redeem itself in the last 40 minutes and become something really worth watching, which is unusual for most of Adam Sandler's stuff (save Happy Gilmore). Watched with Vikki, 2006-11-17. | |
| Funny Games (1997) | This was superb. Surreal, twisted and the ending was quite deep/interesting. Just what I'm into :-) Watched it with Vikki, 2006-11-12. | |
| Hostel (2006) | Watched this with Vikki. It was okay, nothing special. 2006-11-03. | |
| Immortel (Ad Vitam) (2004) | Excellent movie. Watched late on 2006-10-01. I loved that last scene with the doves and Linda Hardy, with the blue hair, and that french accent, wow. | |
| Layer Cake (2004) | I'd missed this when it came out, but James recommended it when we were discussing the new James Bond film so I borrowed it from him and watched it late on a Saturday night. I enjoyed it, I like the actor a lot more now. 2006-11-04. | |
| Mission Impossible 3 (2006) | This was pretty crap. Overdone stunts, stupid gadgets (a mask fabber in a briefcase? They had to make a mask on demand, so it cut it, painted it etc according to up to the date photographs, but they had just the right stick on eyebrows and a toupee in the bag? Come on) and the usual nonsense. Also, I can't take that type of overweight villan seriously. 2006-11-06. | |
| National Treasure (2004) | I'd been meaning to watch this for a while, I was hoping for a new Indiana Jones type figure but it didn't live up. The movie was okay, nothing special. Reminded me of the Da Vinci Code (novel, haven't seen the movie yet). 2006-11-17. | |
| Ordinary Decent Criminal (2000) | I think I'd seen this before, but could only remember it vaguely. Watched with Vikki, 2006-11-05. Decent movie. | |
| Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) | Watched this with Vikki at some point in November. I enjoyed it. There were some scenes that made me laugh out loud. Like Jack falling down that ravine with the pole strapped to his back. | |
| Saw III (2006) | I watched this with Vikki at some point in November 2006, but forgot to note it down. Only realised when somebody asked me what I thought about it and I checked to see what I'd written. I thought it was okay. Nothing special, could have been much worse. | |
| School of Rock (2003) | This wasn't bad. Watched with Vikki, 2006-11-20. | |
| Stranger Than Fiction (2006) | This was an excellent film. Colin Farell was superb. Watched with Vikki, 2006-11-17. | |
| Thank You For Smoking (2006) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-11-26. I really enjoyed this. Good satire. The lead actor was great too, hadn't heard of him before. | |
| The Cat's Meow (2001) | Noticed this coming on around 3am on Film Four and decided to watch it. I quite enjoyed it. The cast was quite eclectic. 2006-11-20. | |
| The Hole (2001) | This was pretty good. Starred a young Keira Knightly, bonus. 2006-11-20. Vikki watched a little but had already seen it so left me to watch it. | |
| October 2006 | ||
| 2010: The Year We Make Contact (1984) | I'd seen this before, but it's been quite a while and I couldn't remember the end. Okay film. 2006-10-16. | |
| Birthday Girl (2001) | Watched with Vikki, on Film4. I quite liked this. 2006-10-09. | |
| Desperation (2006) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-10-21. I was expecting more as I vaguely remembering finding the book interesting in high school. It was a boring movie - the religious character, David, was annoying preachy for a 12 year old. | |
| Halloween: Resurrection (2002) | I'm surprised this completely passed me by. I thought the most recent Halloween was Halloween: H20. This movie wasn't great, but it could have been much worse. Watched with Vikki, on TV, 2006-10-28. | |
| Hulk (2003) | This was on TV and I decided to watch it. I tried to watch it before but got fed up after 30 mins. It wasn't bad. Could have been much worse. 2006-10-24. | |
| Knight Rider 2000 (1991) | Cheesetastic. Watched while playing WoW on a Saturday morning. 2006-10-28. | |
| Mimic 2 (2001) | This was on TV, was crap. 2006-10-23. | |
| My Little Eye (2002) | Decent movie. Kept being reminded of Big Brother (for obvious reasons). Watched it with Vikki on TV, 2006-10-31. | |
| R-Point (2004) | This wasn't too bad, watched it with Vikki, 2006-10-08 on Filmfour. She fell asleep before the end though. It was a little slow, but makes a change from the usual horror stuff I've seen recently. | |
| See No Evil (2006) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-10-15. This was okay, didn't really understand having those deliquents cleaning up an old hotel however.. | |
| Severance (2006) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-10-15. This was an okay film, not particularly notable. | |
| Sleepy Hollow (1999) | Watched with Vikki on TV, 2006-10-31. I'd seen this a couple of times but wanted Vikki to see it. It's very cinematic. Good film. | |
| Superman Returns (2006) | I took the last opportunity to see this on the big screen at a children's matinee in the GFT. That was a big mistake. It was rowdy as hell with loads of children shouting out "Is that superman?" "What happened?" all the time. Bah, never do that again. The movie wasn't all that great either. It was okay. But there was no real nemesis. Spacey was okay as Lex Luthor, quite good actually, but all he did was try to create an island. No real monster or danger or big bad guy.. Nada. Disappointing. I liked the scene with the handgun and Superman's eye though, that was cool. 2006-10-17. | |
| Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994) | Watched this with Vikki, it was on TV around Halloween. It had a bad rating but we decided to watch it hoping it would be laughably funny. It was. Also, it was very surreal and strange. Worth having a look at. Renee was quite cute in it too. 2006-10-28. | |
| The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984) | I'd only heard of this a few months ago. Cheesey, campy fun. 2006-10-15. | |
| The Omen (2006) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-10-14. I thought this was rubbish. The boy didn't seem even remotely responsible for any of the events in the film, let alone evil incarnate. | |
| The Plague (2006) | This was rubbish. They were essentially zombies, but without the contagion and the exponential infection potential. Boring. Plus there was some religious aspect to the whole thing I'm not sure I quite understood. 2006-10-21. | |
| The Pumpkin Karver (2006) | Watched with Vikki. The acting was so bad it was entertaining. Crap movie. 2006-10-22. | |
| The Weather Man (2006) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-10-21. I really enjoyed it. Reminded me a little of American Beauty. | |
| Wrong Turn (2003) | I've watched the beginning of this movie twice before but never managed to see it all the way through. It wasn't bad, some good scenes. I kept expecting Faith to kick everybody's ass though. Watched with Vikki, 2006-10-08. | |
| September 2006 | ||
| 2046 (2004) | This attracted my attention, though it wasn't exactly how I thought it would be. To be honest, I found it a little slow, but it wasn't a bad movie though I'm not sure I really understood the decisions the guy makes. It was on Film 4, 2006-09-20. | |
| Air Force One (1997) | I've seen this before and quite like it. It was on BBC1 when I was eating dinner so I watched the whole thing. 2006-09-01. | |
| Cast a Deadly Spell (1991) | This wasn't too bad actually. I liked the main character. 2006-09-26. | |
| Find Me Guilty (2006) | Watched this with Vikki. It was a little slow, but kept my attention. I thought Vin Diesel was excellent in the role. I guess this'll lead to far more varied roles for him. 2006-09-14. | |
| Hoodwinked (2006) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-09-22. I loved this, thought it was great! | |
| Jarhead (2005) | I enjoyed this. Some great scenes. 2006-09-11. | |
| Lucky Number Slevin (2006) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-09-08. I enjoyed it. Lucy Liu was so cute and seemed about 15-20 years younger than normal. | |
| Maiden Voyage (2004) | Wow. What utter crap. Definitely the worse film I've seen this year. I don't even know where to start. It was mince. The acting was so terrible it made me cringe. The plot was swiss cheese. The mercenaries were fat Australian-sounding morons. It was just so wholly stupid. Don't get me started on this 'luxury cruise ship' - it was a glorified 1980s car ferry. There are so many bad scenes in this movie. Like the one where the two mercs bust into what must have been 'the casino' (it had a tiny poker table, tiny bar and about 8 slot machines lined up against the wall all this decorated in chrome and burger-joint colours sporting plastic stools) - they procede to shoot up the entire room, first the machines, then each of the bottles and glasses on the bar then the poker table, then some more glass on the bar, then a sign on the wall, then the arcade machines again (all this, of course, is in slow motion) and then, only after a good minute of this mindless shooting do the protagonists actual | |
| Police Story (1985) | Jackie Chan movie, entertaining, though the english dub I watched was absolutely awful, I'm a better voice actor. 2006-09-24. | |
| Stripes (1981) | I watched this not long ago, but for some reason I felt like watching it again. I wasn't paying much attention, just something to make some noise while I was playing WoW. 2006-09-01. | |
| The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939) | Classic movie - I stayed up to about 4am watching this on TCM or something. I love it, great interaction between Moriarty and Holmes. 2006-09-24. | |
| The Devil Wears Prada (2006) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-09-22. Not bad. | |
| The Hills Have Eyes (2006) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-09-08. I didn't like it much. I just kept getting annoyed by how foolishly the characters were acting. I'm not sure if I've seen the original or not - I'll try to get hold of it. Interestingly it was based on a scottish legend. I'll need to look into that more too. | |
| The Sign of Four (1983) | This seemed a lot older than just 23 years. Anyway, I enjoyed it, watched it on a Saturday afternoon after I discovered it just starting on one of the cable channels. 2006-09-30. | |
| Village of the Damned (1960) | This was on late at night and I discovered it by chance. It's been a while since I've seen it. It's a good movie. The children are great. Reminds me a bit of a Borg collective too. I've just discovered there is a John Carpenter remake and a sequel to the 1960 edition. Must try to get my hands on them. 2006-09-25. | |
| Village of the Damned (1995) | The John Carpenter remake and Christopher Reeve's last movie before his accident. I watched this with Vikki, I tracked it down soon after rewatching the original. I didn't like it much. The original was much better. I don't like the woman who played the in-control-head-scientist-government-type, she just never seems believable. 2006-09-30. | |
| August 2006 | ||
| After Sundown (2006) | Wow, crap. 2006-08-13. | |
| Angel Heart (1987) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-08-05. I think I'd seen this years before, but I could barely remember it. I liked this movie. I love the era it's set in, plus the cinematography is excellent. | |
| Brokeback Mountain (2005) | This was a great movie, though I'd seen all the parodies before actually getting around to watching the movie, so it might have been slightly tainted. Enjoyed it though, emotional. 2006-08-19. | |
| Cat's Eye (1985) | Watched wtih Vikki, she's been talking about this movie since we met, finally managed to track it down. 'Twas entertaining. 2006-08-02. | |
| Clerks 2 (2006) | Enjoyed this. 2006-08-01. | |
| Explorers (1985) | Watched some of this with Vikki a few months ago but she fell asleep and I changed it to something else. Just got around to watching it now, it was a so-so kids movie. 2006-08-20. | |
| Firewall (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-08-13. It was a decent action film, I like Harrison Ford. I could nitpick all day with the plot and techonology however. | |
| Garden State (2004) | This was a good movie, Natalie Portman is as cute as ever. 2006-08-23. Watched with Vikki. | |
| Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (2004) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-08-05. This wasn't bad. Quite strange though, not sure I understood the character 'Ghost' much but I liked her. | |
| Haute Tension (2003) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-08-04. I enjoyed it, though there are a few films it reminded me of. We watched what I think was the English version, though half of it still seemed to be in French. | |
| Lifeforce (1985) | I love British movies, I recognise the colonel from The Flipside of Dominic Hide I watched a few months ago. Not a bad effort, great wireframe computer scenes at the beginning and the animatronics were really good. 2006-08-13. | |
| Lolita (1962) | This was on TCM, 2006-08-01. Not bad, I couldn't decide if I wanted to watch it or not, but this was the first time I'd heard James Mason (who I'm only familiar with through Eddie Izzard's parodies) and when I saw the character Peter Sellers created (the policeman on the balcony) I was hooked. | |
| Mercury Rising (1998) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-08-06. Decent action movie. | |
| My Super Ex Girlfriend (2006) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-08-13. I enjoyed this, it's quite a weird movie though. Plus it has Anna Faris *swoon*. | |
| Pretty Persuasion (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-08-27. Not bad. | |
| Subspecies (1991) | Half-watched this while playing WoW. Cheesey Trash. 2006-08-24. | |
| The Ringer (2005) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-08-05. Decent movie. | |
| V for Vendetta (2006) | Wow, excellent movie. I really liked V, Hugo Weaving (aka Agent Smith) has such a great voice, plus it's got Ms Portman, mmm. This movie scares me somewhat, very 1984... 2006-08-19. | |
| Waking Life (2001) | Good movie. The 'Rotoscope' animation/filming effect was very interesting, if a little distracting. I think I should watch this film again. 2006-08-23. | |
| July 2006 | ||
| Akira (1988) | I've been meaning to watch this for ages, it's always in Top Sci-fi lists. I was a bit disappointed - I was a little bored at times. I saw the original English dub, which was okay. 2006-07-02. | |
| Bloodrayne (2005) | Wow, rubbish. I need to see more of these Uew Boll produced movies to see how much he can screw them up. 2006-07-17. | |
| Blue Velvet (1986) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-07-07. It bored me a little bit, plus I couldn't understand why the guy was so interested in the girl or about finding out what truth there might have been. Strangeness. | |
| Dazed and Confused (1993) | Interesting, Milla Jovovich just gets cuter and cuter. | |
| Death Machine (1994) | Half-watched this while I was playing a game. It's got killer robots, exosuits and Brad Dourif but it's still crap. 2006-07-25. | |
| Eurotrip (2004) | Average. 2006-07-10. | |
| Final Destination 3 (2006) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-07-20. It was okay, I enjoyed it. Not a patch on the first one though - the best part about that movie was them figuring out what was actually happening, in this one they use the ol' "I've went online and it says a few years ago this thing happened to this kid...". | |
| Fletch (1985) | Not bad. I liked some of this one-liners. 2006-07-05. | |
| Ginger Snaps (2000) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-07-14. It wasn't bad. I'd like to see the sequel and prequel. | |
| Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004) | I quite liked this. 2006-07-17. | |
| Independence Day (1996) | I like this movie, seen it a few times before but wanted Vikki to see it. 2006-07-08. | |
| Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (2005) | Wow, I really liked this. It made me laugh out loud a couple of times, which is unusual. I heard it won a 'Most underrated film of the year' award in 2005 - I completely agree. Great chemistry between the three main characters and that second scene between Downey and Harmony in the bar, and then the aftermath. Superb. I've been there :-p 2006-07-18. | |
| Memoirs of a Geisha (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-07-21. I really liked this movie (although I did keep expecting to see some martial arts, but that's just me). | |
| Red Heat (1988) | Half-watched this on ITV4 while I was working, can't miss an Arnie movie :-) I'd seen this before but not for a long time. Cheesey fun. 2006-07-22. | |
| Reeker (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, this was quite good. They should have made more of the bad guy, he/it looked very cool. I'm not quite sure I get the point of the movie. Don't want to spoil it here, but I just don't get why some people were there and some weren't - did they have to prove themselves? Hmm.. 2006-07-08. | |
| Return of the Living Dead (1985) | Wow, how hot was that chick? Can't believe another cult movie like this passed me by. I didn't even know it existed, I was completely confused because of the other Dead series. I'll need to get my hands on the sequels. Good campy zombie fun. 2006-07-04. | |
| Return of the Living Dead 2 (1988) | This was okay, it wasn't until I got to the last 20 minutes (the powerstation scenes) that I realised I'd seen this before, although the rest of the movie wasn't familiar at all, maybe I'd only seen the ending before. 2006-07-06. I don't think it's going to be easy to get hold of the other sequels to this. | |
| Revenge of the Nerds (1984) | 80s nonsense, has to be seen though. 2006-07-14. | |
| Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise (1987) | More 80s nonsense. Interesting to watch though, they simply can't make comedies like this any more. 2006-07-17. | |
| Secret Window (2004) | This wasn't too bad, quite predictable though. Watched with Vikki, 2006-07-03. | |
| Seed of Chucky (2004) | Watched this with Vikki too, though she fell asleep half-way through. 2006-07-21. It's not that great, certainly not a horror, kinda funny in places. It's actually plain weird. | |
| Stripes (1981) | Watched this with Vikki, not bad movie. It's got Egon from Ghostbusters in it :-) 2006-07-07. | |
| Subject Two (2006) | I watched this with Vikki, 2006-07-21. It was crap. Kinda interesting, and some cool death scenes, but I don't understand the motivation - why murder that guy as opposed to some terminally ill patient or something, plus why didn't the guy seem to care he was being murdered? It made no sense to me. | |
| Sudden Impact (1983) | This was on TCM, made a point to watch the other Dirty Harry movies. Decent movie. 2006-07-22. | |
| The Lost Boys (1987) | Half-watched this on Channel 5 while I was working, I'd seen it before. Okay movie, I read it's heralded as re-introducing and updating vampire stories to the world. 2006-07-22. | |
| The Poseidon Adventure (2005) | Okay. Watched with Vikki, 2006-07-08. | |
| The Village (2004) | Watched this with Vikki. It was okay, didn't really grab me much. 2006-07-07. | |
| Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) | Good fun. I love Dan Akroyd's line "Do you wanna see something really scary?". 2006-07-17. | |
| Van Wilder (2002) | Didn't like this much, couldn't relate to the character. 2006-07-10. | |
| Videodrome (1983) | Long live the new flesh. 2006-07-26. | |
| X-Men 3 (2006) | Not bad. 2006-07-05. | |
| June 2006 | ||
| Basic (2003) | I liked this movie, a few twists, and I like the stars. They were only actually together on screen for a few minutes though. 2006-06-28. | |
| Dark Star (1974) | I watched this because it came from the guy who wrote the Alien screenplay, it's awfully low budget stuff, but kind of interesting. 2006-06-26. | |
| Dead Birds (2004) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-06-21. It didn't really keep my attention very well. | |
| Dracula 2000 (2000) | I love this movie, but then I love all things vampiric. I thought the actor pulled Dracula off really well and it's got Jeri Ryan as a vampire chick, *drool*. I've seen this about four or five times now, but we watched it on demand so Vikki could see it. 2006-06-01. | |
| Gamera vs. Gaos (1967) | Wow, what shite. Couldn't watch this if it wasn't MST3K. I hated the dubbing, the little boy (who had most of the inane dialogue) sounded like he was hollering all his lines, very annoying. 2006-06-18. | |
| Heathers (1989) | Cute movie. Watched it while I was playing Heroes of Might and Magic 5. Shannon Docherty looks very 80s, but she's still gorgeous. 2006-06-18. | |
| King Kong (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-06-19. I liked it, it was far too long though. | |
| Lord of War (2005) | Not bad, reminded me a bit of Blow, except I didn't really care about the characters. Watched with Vikki, on demand. 2006-06-10. | |
| Pump up the Volume (1990) | I liked this movie. Reminds me a bit of blog culture. 2006-06-26. | |
| Real Genius (1985) | 2006-06-24. Cheesey 80s flick, kept my attention. | |
| Stealth (2005) | This was crap, but I expected it to be a lot worse. Worst intelligent-plane ever! 2006-06-15. | |
| The 13th Floor (1999) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-06-23. I'd seen it before, it's a good movie. | |
| The Brothers Grimm (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-06-21. It didn't seem to keep my attention much either. Not terrible though. Matt Damon looked like a hobbit. | |
| The Philadelphia Experiment (1984) | Run of the mill, psudeo-sci-fi (ie. the premise is sci-fi the rest of the movie isn't), not bad, not great. 2006-06-04. | |
| The Siege (1998) | This was interesting, set three years before 9/11. Reminded me a little of 1984. Enjoyed it, though it was a little long. Watched with Vikki, on ITV3. 2006-06-15. | |
| Unleashed (2005) | aka. Danny the Dog. Interesting movie. I liked it. It was partly set in Glasgow, which I didn't expect. 2006-06-15. | |
| May 2006 | ||
| An American Werewolf in London (1981) | 2006-05-06, good werewolf movie, it was on channel 5. | |
| Austin Powers In Goldmember (2002) | 2006-05-04, seen before, felt like watching it in the background.. | |
| Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) | 2006-05-04, seen before, felt like watching it in the background.. | |
| Big Trouble in Little China (1986) | 2006-05-15, watched this on E4, I don't think I'd ever seen it in full. Good fun. | |
| Christine (1983) | John Carpenter movie. Cheesy, but not too bad. I like the choices of music the car makes. 2006-05-31. | |
| Closer (2004) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-05-01. I like this movie. | |
| House of Flying Daggers (2004) | Not bad, 2006-05-18. | |
| Me And You And Everyone We Know (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, but she fell asleep. I thought it was great. 2006-05-02. | |
| Phone Booth (2002) | Vikki was watching this on Channel 4, 2006-05-21. I joined her after missing the first 15 minutes, I quite liked the movie. | |
| Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning (2005) | 2006-05-03. Wow, I can't write enough about this shite. It was very professionally put together especially as its such a low budget fan film. The computer generated effects were superb, and probably the only opportunity to see some of Starfleet's ships in an emmense battle with particle effects and destruction. However, and this is a big one, wow, what utterly utterly crap acting. And the plot, which looked like it was a cut and pasted together from stuff they found on a myriad of fan sites was stupid stupid, nonsensical, immoral, heinous.. It has no bearance on the Star Trek universe whatsoever. Worth watching to sample how strange eastern European humour can be. | |
| The Flipside of Dominic Hide (1980) | This was on BBC3, 2006-05-20, interesting story, read similar time travel paradoxes before though. The actress who played Jane, Caroline Langrishe, was gorgeous. | |
| The Maltese Falcon (1941) | 2006-05-20, watched this on DVD, excellent movie. I really wanna try and see more of these detective film noir movies. | |
| The Pink Panther (2006) | 2006-05-16, watched this with Vikki, it wasn't bad. | |
| April 2006 | ||
| Blood Waters of Dr. Z (1972) | MST3K yet again. 2006-04-09. | |
| Boggy Creek II: And The Legend Continues (1985) | Wow, crap. This is in imdb's bottom 100. MST3K yet again. 2006-04-09. | |
| Brainstorm (1983) | This was on TCM last night, described as a 'chilling sci-fi thriller'. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really live up to that description. 2006-04-08. | |
| Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) | Watched this with Vikki when it came on TV, 2006-04-14. I'd seen it before and wanted Vikki to see it. I think it's a great film. | |
| Danger: Diabolik (1968) | MST3K again, 2006-04-14. | |
| Future War (1997) | Another MST3K movie. There was some classic MST3K humour here, the protagonist is fighting in a warehouse full of boxes, there is a dusty, misty atmosphere: "Hey, it's a Kim Wilde video!" "Coming to you in soupovision" "Oh no, he's boxed in!" "I'm card..bored!" "It's not the future.. and there's no war?". Excellent (movie was utterly crap of course). 2006-04-09. | |
| Gorgo (1961) | MST3K again, British monster movie, wow. 2006-04-15. | |
| Hobgoblins (1988) | Convinced Vikki to watch this MST3K movie with me. It was one of the worst movies I've seen in a while, the guys made it fun though. 2006-04-22. | |
| Just Married (2003) | This was on TV while I was cleaning the bedroom, 2006-04-08. Felt like Meet The Parents in places. | |
| Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders (1995) | Another MST3K movie. This was in the bottom #100 movies on imdb.com, another WoW distraction. Actually there a bunch more to come - I had a lazy weekend. 2006-04-08. | |
| Monster (2003) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-04-09. I actually quite enjoyed this, although I'd been putting it off for a while until I was 'in the mood'. I couldn't believe Theron's transformation, that and her acting was worth watching alone. | |
| Parenthood (1989) | Watched this with Vikki when we were staying over at Ashley's, 2006-04-30. It's a cute movie, I'd seen it before more than once though. | |
| Primer (2004) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-04-03. Great movie, although I love temporal paradoxes. I think I might watch this again though, I think it was deliberately confusing. | |
| Scary Movie 4 (2006) | Watched this with Vikki. Thought it was crap. 2006-04-23. | |
| Slither (2006) | Watched this with Vikki. It was an okay horror/monster/alien type film, but from the adverts I was expecting something akin to Shaun of the Dead. 2006-04-23. | |
| Soultaker (1990) | MST3K movie. Watched while playing WoW, 2006-04-08. | |
| Squirm (1976) | MST3K again, 2006-04-14. | |
| The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-04-23. Not bad. | |
| The Black Hole (1979) | Watched this (partly with Vikki) using NTL's on demand - we were struggling to decide on something to watch while eating our Chinese takeaway so I decided on this. Crap, but it kept my attention. | |
| The Final Sacrifice (1990) | Crap Canadian movie, also the MST3K version. 2006-04-20. | |
| The Girl In Gold Boots (1969) | Another MST3K movie, couldn't have watched this normally. Another one to split my attention while playing WoW, 2006-04-08. | |
| The Horror of Spider Island (1960) | MST3K again, 2006-04-14. I actually have the non-MST3K version of this as well... | |
| The Phantom Planet (1961) | One of the season 9 MST3K movies. 2006-04-25. | |
| The Projected Man (1967) | Pants British movie, watched the MST3K, 2006-04-20. | |
| The Quest of the Delta Knights (1993) | MST3K movie, 2006-04-26. | |
| Touch of Satan (1971) | MST3K again, 2006-04-14. | |
| March 2006 | ||
| Cry_Wolf (2005) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-03-26. Not bad. | |
| Date Movie (2006) | Watched this partly because it has Willow in it and partly because it has such a bad imdb rating.. Wow, it's awful. Vikki walked away after 20 minutes (2006-03-12). | |
| Full Metal Jacket (1987) | This was on Channel 5 a while ago | |
| Hero (2004) | Had this for a while and just got around to watching it, 2006-03-19. I'm not sure what I think of these sort of films. It was beautifully shot and I enjoyed it but I soon find the imagery quite tiring. | |
| Identity (2003) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-03-14. I'd seen this before, but thought Vikki would enjoy it. I quite like this movie. | |
| Paycheck (2003) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-03-18. Wasn't bad. I'd like to read the original short story. Didn't like Uma Thurman in this much. | |
| Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987) | Watched this on 2006-03-12. Think I'd seen a bit of it before, but it was a long time ago. Enjoyed it. | |
| Queen of the Damned (2002) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-03-26. Quite crap, makes me want to read Anne Rice though, which I've been meaning to already anyway. | |
| Spacehunter (1983) | 2006-03-19 - not great, watched it while playing WoW. | |
| Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) | Watched while playing WoW, working my way through the box set. 2006-03-24. The thing that stands out most in this film for me is the absolutely gorgeous shape shifting chick in the prison colony. | |
| Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) | Also watched this while playing WoW. 2006-03-24. I didn't like this all that much. It's painful watching Kirk flirt with that girl and what's with the whales? I remember Scotty trying to talk to the computer from years ago when I first watched it. It has Samantha in it from Sex in the City. | |
| Star Trek: First Contact (1996) | Working my way through the box set, seen this before. I like it. 2006-03-25. | |
| Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) | 2006-03-23. Wasn't sure if I'd seen this, but it all came back to me about 20 minutes in. I thought the villian was quite a good actor but he utterly paled in comparision to the previous Star Trek villians, like the Borg. I've got hold of the box set so I'm gonna work my way through the movies whilst playing WoW :-) | |
| The Dark (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-03-24. It wasn't that great, I found myself simply not caring what happened. | |
| The Jacket (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-03-24. I quite enjoyed it. The lead actor was good, and Keira Knightly, oh boy. | |
| The Jerk (1979) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-03-18. Watched this because O've read its in the 50 comedies of all time - didn't think it was very good at all. | |
| The Mothman Prophecies (2002) | This movie makes me wish I'd started this list much earlier. It wasn't until about 20 minutes in I began predicting (remembering) events in the movie. I watched it anyway, as I was settled down and in the mood with a freshly opened bottle of Baileys (for a change). It was okay, watched it 2006-03-19. | |
| Timeline (2003) | I'd always wanted to see this. Not that great, there is no actual sci-fi in it really, 2006-03-21. | |
| Zathura (2005) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-03-12, kids film, but not bad. | |
| February 2006 | ||
| Aeon Flux (2005) | Went to see this with Vikki and Cat in the cinema, 2006-02-22. I thought it was utter crap. I couldn't figure out the plot at all - it seemed like somebody had cut out about an hour of the movie. Charlize Theron was pretty cool, but she just doesn't do it for me at all. | |
| American Pie: Band Camp (2005) | Tried to watch this with Vikki a while ago but gave up and switched to something else after 20 mins. I watched the rest of it when I was off-sick from work, 2006-02-01. Utter crap. The guy playing Stifler's little brother did an excellent job however, if he can act any other way I think he'll be a great upcoming star. | |
| Be Cool (2005) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-02-14. Awful. I'd imagine Travolta and Thurman regret this. | |
| Night Watch (2004) | Russian movie, I thought it was excellent. I loved the scene when the walked down the hallway 'in the gloom'. Looking foward to the rest of the trilogy. Watched it late on a Friday night with a good bottle of red wine and cheese. Perfect. 2006-02-17. | |
| Suspiria (1977) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-02-02. Heralded as a masterpiece of the genre, I thought it was shite, but what do I know. | |
| Tales from the Crypt (1972) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-02-18. We had watched some of the episodes from the 1989 Tales from the Crypt season 1 before this and realised this movie was pretty much the inspiration for that TV show.. so it was a little 'samey'.. Not terrible though. | |
| THX 1138 (1969) | This has been on my list for ages. It actually sent me to sleep twice, but it was very late when I watched it... | |
| January 2006 | ||
| Doom (2005) | Quite crap, it's Doom though, had to be seen, 2006-01-06. | |
| Fatal Attraction (1987) | Channel 5, 2006-01-02, watched with Vikki. Think I've seen clips of this before, but not actually the whole thing. Not bad, understand the expression bunny boiler now. | |
| Ghost World (2001) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-01-25. | |
| House of Wax (2005) | Suzanne bought Vikki this on DVD for her Christmas, thought it was going to be utterly crap, but it was surprisingly decent, 2006-01-07. | |
| Jason X (2002) | I went to see this in the cinema with Cat when it came out, but it came on the TV this evening (2006-01-06) and I made Vikki watch it with me. Superb cheese. I love the android. | |
| Magnolia (1999) | Watched this with Vikki, 2006-01-15. I didn't realise until seeing Tom Cruise's character that I'd seen this movie before although I couldn't remember much more about the movie, but as each scene ended it felt familiar. Very annoying. Avoiding this is the reason I've started this list. Oh well, I won't have to sit through this again. I'm not sure what I thought of it, at 3 hours it was pretty long, I thought it had stuff to say but found it all too convulted, repetitive somewhat forced and not as entertaining or thought-provoking as it might have been. I wonder if they massacred thousands of frogs making that penultimate section.. | |
| Reign of Fire (2002) | Watched this on one of the cable channels, 2006-01-07, not bad. | |
| River's Edge (1986) | This was utter crap, Cirspin Glover gave the worst performance I've ever seen anywhere. Watched it on-demand with Vikki, 2006-01-02. | |
| Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005) | Saw this at Cat's house at the end of Nov 05, but wanted Vikki to see it, so watched it with her on 2006-01-11. | |
| Superman III (1983) | Watched this on 2006-01-24, it's the one with Richard Pryor, and the evil superman (fight in the junkyard, flicking peanuts etc). I like this, cheesey and somewhat slapstick at times, but it brought back lots of memories of old videotapes at my parents plus some scenes I couldn't remember at all. I've got my hands on the other three movies now, I think I'll watch them soon. | |
| The Devil's Rejects (2005) | Watched with Vikki 2006-01-20. Didn't like this. Was there even a plot here? | |
| The Island (2005) | Vikki saw a little of this with me but fell asleep. The story is very like Spares by Michael Marshall Smith, not sure if it's ripped off or not.. 2006-01-29. | |
| The Skeleton Key (2005) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-01-14. Wasn't bad, but I felt this movie could have been shortened to around 20 mins, total. | |
| Underworld (2003) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-01-14. I'd seen this before in the cinema, thought it was okay. Wanted Vikki to see it before we go to see the sequel. | |
| Wolf Creek (2005) | Watched with Vikki, 2006-01-14. Slow at the beginning but fairly good. The bad guy was quite convincing. | |

| Night of the Creeps (1986) | Watched using NTL's on-demand with Vikki, 2005-12-11. | |
| Scanners (1981) | This was on BBC1 this evening, 2005-12-17, seen it before but not for ages. | |
| Transporter 2 (2005) | Over the top effects, but kept me entertained on a quiet saturday afternoon (2005-12-03). | |
| Virtual Sexuality (1999) | Nonsense. 2005-12-30. | |
| November 2005 | ||

| Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005) | Seen this over at Cat's house on 2005-11-29. Excellent. | |
| The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) | Watched this in the cinema on Monday afternoon with Vikki (2005-11-28), it wasn't what I was expecting, more a courtroom drama than a horror movie, enjoyed it though. | |
| xXx (2002) | Watched it on Channel 5, 2005-11-20, meh. | |
| October 2005 | ||
| Audition (1999) | Weird Japanese movie, kinda liked it, wasn't paying much attention though. | |
| Earth vs. the Spider (2001) | Cheesey sci-fi. Not great. | |
| Ghostbusters (1984) | Watched this at Sandy's halloween party. It was about 5am. Excellent movie, seen it before (of course), I grew up with Ghostbusters. | |
| Saw II (2005) | Seen this on 2005-10-30 in the cinema with Cat and Vik. | |
| The Fog (1980) | Didn't like this much. | |
| September 2005 | ||
| Alien Resurrection (1997) | ||
| Atomic Train (2005) | Wow, just dire. | |

| Hide and Seek (2005) | ||
| Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2005) | ||
| Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) | ||
| Polymorph (2005) | ||
| Serenity (2005) | ||
| Session 9 (2005) | I was pleasantly surprised by this horror movie. It's one of the rare horror films where the location (in this case, a disused asylum) contributes more to the film than any other aspect, including the characters and plot - and I mean that in a good way :-p | |
| Suicide Club (2005) | ||
| The 51st State (2005) | ||
| The House That Dripped Blood (2005) | ||
| The Room (2005) | ||
